Language, dress, and especially music seem to be a direct reflection of the generation that swings to it. This show's topic will deal with music as an identity and how identities influence music. Throughout time, the music that flowed in communities served as an outcry or an echo for the people of that era. There were classical, renaissance, big band, and rock and roll eras, just to name a few ... and now there is hip hop. What message does music send to the creators of it and its listeners? What message does hip hop send? Is it any different from previous eras? If music is just self expression, why is a person viewed as being "old fashioned" or "whack" or "out of touch with what's happening" when they are just expressing themselves? Can music influence or even create a lifestyle or are lifestyles put to music? Music is a universal language, so it speaks to everyone ….so, what do you have to say? 01:00:00Mira Sherill Balogunnomusic culture, teen talk, blog talk radio, hip hop, identityEvery new generation brings its own twist to our already diverse culture. There is a time and place for everything, but teens think that it is appropriate to use slang and the informal, local dialect to communicate in every setting. Are adults simply "hating" on the teens for creating a unique language and the adults feel left out? Are teens just creating a stigma for themselves and do not realize it? Why do teens get upset when adults try to compromise and use teen language to communicate? Do teens feel as though they compromise their identity when they use correct grammar? This show will also discuss the use of foul language. Teens use these words more than adults do at times. Do adults feel that teens have not earned the right to be stressed out enough to use these words? Or is it just a respect thing? Since teens are so creative at developing their own language, why haven't they come up with their own unique way to express anger or vent? Tune in and tell us what you think.01:00:00Mira Sherill Balogunnolanguage, teens and adults, talk show, radio, communicationThis is the second live show and we will be focusing more on the language barriers that exist between adults and teens. This Radio FUTURE premier will serve as the catalyst to opening the dialogue between adults, teens, and their communities. "You Might Not Understand Me, Just Respect Me" deals with a lot of issues that arise on the surface between adults and teens. It is our desire to have each show dig a little deeper into the mental, spiritual, and emotional relationships between teens and adults. This show is designed to show adults and teens that how they think and feel is important. They have a voice and we are listening. 00:59:00Mira Sherill Balogunnoteen blog talk radio, teen issues with adults, adult issues with teens, teen community issues, teen problemsThe first episode of Radio FUTURE deals with the reasons that adults say that teens don't understand what it means to be an adult, and why teens believe that ad
