We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Our mission is to rescue & find loving homes for rabbits, as well as educate and serve our community so that all rabbits in our area live happy, healthy lives with their families. Our rabbits for adoption come from all walks of life. Often they are a child’s pet, and the young caretaker loses interest, sometimes for a new pet, or especially if a young bunny is purchased and it unknowingly becomes an “unruly teenager” a few months later. Others come from animal control, are found wandering neighborhoods after being “set free” by people who no longer wanted them, or even drop-offs at pet stores. A few months after Easter, we often receive entire "unexpected litters" from Easter Rabbits bought without prior research. However, Easter is definitely not the only time we receive rabbits. Sadly, few rabbits that become unwanted end up in rescue. Most often they are given away to another unprepared home, and the rabbit goes through the cycle again. Others are let loose, left to find palatable grasses, avoid dogs and cars, and suffer from mites, fleas, heat, and rain. Rabbits are not as common of a pet as a cat or dog, and are much less understood as a family pet. They are often picked up at a pet store, put in a cage, and no questions are asked. Others are raised as livestock, being left outdoors and not socialized, and sit all alone day after day. Neither situation makes a happy pet, or a happy family! This is where our education mission comes in.   00:01:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinorabbit rescue, rabbit care, rabbit welfareWe are a network of volunteers who do rabbit rescue, centered in Baton Rouge, LA, and serving LA, MS, and occasionally other states. Animals are complex beings with feelings, thoughts, needs, desires, and unique personalities. Animals have reasons for their presence in our lives, as well as their own purpose in life. Our animals teach, heal and help in many ways. They communicate with us all the time, but often we don’t understand. It’s up to us to figure out the message. Through intuitive animal communication, I can help you understand what your animal friend is trying to tell you. Learning what they have to say can lead to a deeper, more fulfilling relationship. If your animal friend is stressed, sick or injured, or is near the end of life, animal Reiki offers a holistic support system to help reduce stress and bring balance. When it is time to grieve the loss of a loved animal friend, I am available to help you honor your feelings and move toward healing. Life’s journey takes each of us through many relationships and transitions, with animals, work, family, spirituality, and our inner selves. Each of these passages is a process. As an Interfaith Minister, I provide a compassionate grounded presence to help people and animals navigate the bumps in life’s path, using intuitive deep listening, meditation practice, animal Reiki, grief counseling, and listening for messages from nature. 01:11:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinoanimal ministry, animal chaplain, animal communication, animal ReikiMy practice is dedicated to helping animals and their people enrich their relationships, and to providing spiritual guidance for people experiencing transitionsAn Evening with Intuitive Money Healer, Sharon Hesshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2014/12/15/an-evening-with-intuitive-money-healer-sharon-hessPetshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2014/12/15/an-evening-with-intuitive-money-healer-sharon-hess/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2014/12/15/an-evening-with-intuitive-money-healer-sharon-hessMon, 15 Dec 2014 00:00:00 GMTAn Evening with Intuitive Money Healer, Sharon HessIn the words of Sharon Hess..."I finally figure out  by connecting spirituality with practicality, you can live the abundant life you dream of.  You don’t have to compromise, you can be authentic…as a matter of fact, it’s necessary! My son actually took three of them daily. We still constantly battled with runny noses, sneezes, and sinus infections. The last straw was when all three of the kids had sinus infections and we went through two rounds of antibiotics and two rounds of steroids (on top of all the antihistamines) and the kids were still not well. I made elderberry syrup after hearing about it from a friend and we started taking it daily.  Since then we have not taken one single antihistamine, we have been healthier and have embraced natural medicine. After seeing the incredibly positive results on my family, I chose to produce and sell my elderberry syrup. The syrup is made with organic ingredients and local raw honey. I also make an elderberry glycerin tincture made with only organic ingredients for babies less than 1 year of age and for adults who travel often.  I feel so incredibly blessed when I hear all of the ways it is helping others, so please share your testimony with me. 01:08:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinoholistic health,Wellness, herbal medicine,Health and WellnessI am a wife and a mom and I prefer treating my family with natural products such as: herbs, supplements, essential oils, and organic whole foods. In previous yeMark Barone, An Act of Dog - Museum of Compassionhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2014/09/21/mark-barone-an-act-of-dog--museum-of-compassionPetshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2014/09/21/mark-barone-an-act-of-dog--museum-of-compassion/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2014/09/21/mark-barone-an-act-of-dog--museum-of-compassionSun, 21 Sep 2014 23:00:00 GMTMark Barone, An Act of Dog - Museum of Compassion"Art is a powerful medium for education, because it wakes us up and reminds us of who we are and what we are here for. I wish I had saved that drawing. I went on to major in Fine Arts in college and pursued a career in Graphic Design. Since 1993 I have served as co-owner and creative director of Design III. When our business went virtual a few years ago there was more time to spend painting and now my portraits, landscapes, and still life works hang in numerous private collections across the country.  I have found great satisfaction in capturing the true essence of my clients’ subjects in these unique portraits and I also support rescue groups across the country by donating portraits at fund raisers along with percentages of new commissions.  01:07:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinoanimal artist, animal art, animal portraitAfter years of adopting rescue dogs, I've been inspired to paint them, along with other pets...oh, and people, too! The "main function" is to offer "FREE" fund raising programs for ALL legitimate animal shelters, rescues, groups, sanctuaries, et al. (Hereafter - referred to as 'shelters'.) Almost every local animal shelter in the world struggles everyday to come up with revenue to 'just meet their daily needs' - much less trying to grow or help more animals. The usual fund raising programs are tired and though still valuable - fresh ideas and programs are needed to increase the revenue flow. As such, Fur Heaven's Sake offers our FREE programs to ALL animal organizations (hereafter referred to as shelters) so that a source of 'Passive Income" becomes a reality. FHS' programs are as close to passive income as one can get - meaning LESS TIME AND WORK involvement for shelter staff...all they have to do is 'talk about it - let the community know the programs are there. Why? Because FHS' programs offer back to the supporter - a value that he/she can USE to benefit THEM - and at the same time - benefit YOUR SHELTER! When you as a 'shelter' register for FREE as a Member, FHS provides you a 'Customized Webbee" (landing page/mini website) that is a "tool" for you to use to help promote your shelter within your community. You can email this to your supporters and community organizations. This "Webbee" tells people what FHS programs are all about - thus, saving YOU time in having to do so. 01:11:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinoAnimal welfare, fundraising, animal advocate, animal rescue,Animal sheltersFur Heaven's Sake is a multifunctional website for animal welfare. The humans behind this organization are made up of experienced pet owners and rescuers with many years of rescue work and experience. The Rescued Rescuers are just that, once rescued dogs on a mission to save the world one fellow Dachshund and four legged friend at a time. Our organization is not a shelter, the rescues stay in an “in-home” setting with volunteer foster families. These foster families provide a loving environment and care as the foster dogs are vetted and are searching for their forever homes. We hope you will come with all of us on this adventure as we save countless dogs and give them a second chance at a new life! Our motto is "by the dogs, for the dogs" as what we humans behind the scenes do is all about the dogs and the dogs only. Follow along as our former rescues aka "board members" rescue, rehabilitate and  re home fellow dogs in need and get a glimpse inside the world of rescue through the eyes of dog's who were once in need of rescue themselves and have been through the process of being rescued and placed into loving homes. About the modalities: Animal Communication uses telepathy to communicate with an animal. It can be done in person or over long distances and is usually used by pet owners to gain better understanding of their furry friends. It is also very useful in horse training, zookeeping, and all other animal-related occupations, because it enables the animals to communicate their needs in an effective, efficient way. BodyTalk is an energy healing modality that combines eastern and western techniques, both modern and traditional, into a comprehensive form of healthcare designed to address physical and emotional ailments. A retired New York Police Department (NYPD) detective who gave 20 years to the job, he is now a Pet Security Consultant . As a police officer he arrested murderers and drug dealers; now he tracks down a different type of bad guy — with the same meticulous care. He’s always either on the phone or on the computer, adding details to the cases... he keeps in a huge file at his home office. However, some of the cases he works on have to be turned over to law enforcement, so Angel gathers as much information as he can and turns it over to his friends in blue. “I used to save people from animals. Now I save animals from people.” Once bitten in the face by a pit bull that needed to be gotten under control at a street fair, Angel only blamed the owner, who should have understood his dog better. The dog should not have been in such a busy place, which made it necessary for Angel to take the dog from the owner to get it under control. He grew a goatee for a while to cover the bite mark on his chin. Today, the scar is a reminder, not of bad animals, but of how easily animals can get into bad situations — and that’s what he is working to prevent. Angel grew up in the notoriously rough Harlem neighborhood of New York City — a Puerto Rican kid in the primarily black projects — where he earned his first degrees in street smarts and self-defense. He spent a lot of time at his grandmother’s house nearby, where she had chickens, roosters, rabbits, dogs and cats. He sometimes stole animals from slaughterhouses and took them to her. He also used to keep pigeons in a coop on the roof of an abandoned building. He spent summers at his family’s farm in Puerto Rico, and though it was quite a change from the city streets, he continued to nurture his dedication to animals there. 00:31:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinopet security, pet rescue, pet safety, pet detective, lost petsAngel Nieves is like Andy Sipowicz or Lennie Briscoe. Our doors opened to the community’s neglected, abandoned and abused pets in 1953 by Holly Frederick Reynolds in memory of her cocker spaniel, Yankee Doodle Dandy, because she truly wanted to make a difference in the lives of these orphaned companions. Today, the mission is the same, but we have several new programs and services in place to do just this-to give these animals a new leash on life; we just need the support of our community to continue the mission and realize our vision. SNARR saves the toughest dogs to place; those with serious medical conditions, deaf and blind dogs, severely emaciated dogs, aggressive dogs…the animals that nobody else wants; the dogs that would otherwise be euthanized. Robin is a busy mother of 5, has an extreme passion for animals, a VERY gutsy attitude and a huge heart. She grew up in an area where Pitt Bull fighting was rampant. “ I used to wait for all of the degenerates to fall asleep after a night of partying and fighting dogs, and then I would sneak into their backyards and steal the injured and petrified bait dogs to drop off at my Momma’s house.” After years of rescuing on her own, Robin worked at a shelter. “The euthanization rate was 85%. Only 7 dogs a month, if that, were adopted out. I saw the possibility of networking these animals. I figured there has got to be someone out there who can help this dog, so I got on Facebook.” Within 3 months, Robin’s efforts resulted in an average of 110 dogs being adopted out EACH month from the shelter. SNARR was born. The 501c3 rescue is based out of Robin’s home and she has worked very hard to build a state of the art kennel and play yard for dogs in need. “ I am a small rescue and do my best to make each dog feel as though they are my pet. I do not believe in pulling a dog from a shelter, only to put it in another shelter environment.” Not only does Robin give these dogs a place to live, but she diligently works with them, socializes them, trains them, rehabilitates them and provides whatever medical care they need.  00:30:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinorescue,special needs pets, pets, networking, rescuerSNARR (Special Needs Animal Rescue Rehabilitation) was started by Robin Menard in St. Martinville, Louisiana. 00:31:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinoanimals,pets,sacredness,rescue,humanityThe St. Tammany Humane Society has been serving St. Tammany parish as the only non-profit, non-governmental animal sheltering and welfare organization for moreAmanda Roberts with C.A.R.E.S.http://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2012/07/05/animals-and-spiritualityPetshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2012/07/05/animals-and-spirituality/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2012/07/05/animals-and-spiritualityThu, 05 Jul 2012 22:30:00 GMTAmanda Roberts with C.A.R.E.S.C.A.R.E.S. They lived, loved, laughed, and cried within the walls of this happy home.   The home had 11 fireplaces, 4 cisterns, a wellhouse and a carriage house.  It is one of the best examples of Eastlake Victorian style in the state of Mississippi and is included in "Victorian Houses of Mississippi".  The cornice is modillioned and the windows display segmental arches with raised brick drip molds.  Fish scale shingles and carved vergeboards accent the gable ends.  The home clearly reflected the prosperity that Mr. Baer, a Jewish immigrant from Germany, had accumulated by the 1870's through his dry goods store, Baer and Brothers, established in 1865.  Baer House Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Please come and help us enjoy this wonderful home. Step back in time - enjoy the elegant rooms, woodwork, and style of the past. Try Southern hospitality at its best. History abounds in Vicksburg. Enjoy antique shops, outlet malls, historic homes, carriage rides in old town, and even gaming on our river boat casinos. Animal Helper was set up to help animals and their owners during this unique time in history after Katrina. Every living, breathing creature, no matter how big or small, was affected by Katrina. Many owned animals are still roaming the streets since Katrina. Some owned animals have turned feral. We have been feeding several dogs for several years now. We Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) feral cat colonies. We also feed feral cat colonies. We feed stray dogs and feral dog packs in New Orleans East. We provide dog/cat food and animal supplies to underprivileged pet owners in New Orleans East. We also provide food to resident feeders. We rescue stray dogs, and the occasional cats. We then rehabilitate them in order to find them loving permanent homes. All of our animals are in foster homes in the Greater New Orleans area. All of our animals have been temperament tested prior to entering our organization. We are an all breed rescue. We have teamed up with a local high-kill shelter in the area. We are working with them to reduce their euthanasia rates. Other animals are found roaming the streets as strays. Occasionally we accept owner surrenders but this is rare. 00:30:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinoanimal rescue, dogs, pet ministry, animal spirituality, catsAnimal Helper is an all-volunteer organization to help pets and their owners in the Greater New Orleans. Our rescued bassets are from shelters all over Louisiana and Mississippi, are strays whose owners cannot be found, or are relinquished by owners who no longer want them. Changing lifestyles, the economy, and lack of responsibility are some of the reasons for the abundance of abandoned basset hounds. Looziana Basset Rescue takes the orphaned bassets into foster care, where they are loved and cared for until permanent adoptive homes can be found. We provide veterinary care that includes vaccinations, heartworm treatment if necessary, and spaying or neutering. homes, schools, libraries and other facilities.  Sandy will discuss the process of evaluating pets as therapists and the value of having pets as companion therapists. A therapy pet's primary function is to brighten someone’s day. The majority of our members are involved in this social side of therapy work. Dogs and their owners visit nursing homes, hospitals and schools to provide emotional support. They put a smile on someone’s face, make their day a little brighter, or bring back a cherished memory. Therapy dogs are privately owned and visit facilities on a regular basis. We do not raise and train dogs to be service or companion animals. At the end of a visit these animals go home with their owners. For the most part, our therapy pets are dogs; however, occasionally we have certified cats, and other animals who have shown that they like people and have the temperament to work with them. 00:30:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinopet therapy, pet companions, spirituality, pets, therapy dogsSandy McMurtry will be joining me as we talk about Pets as Therapists.  Sandy is with Love on a Leash and she goes with her companion, Roxy, to visit nursing hPets N Patients with Ann Marie Glavianohttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2011/08/04/pets-n-patients-with-ann-marie-glavianoPetshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2011/08/04/pets-n-patients-with-ann-marie-glaviano/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2011/08/04/pets-n-patients-with-ann-marie-glavianoThu, 04 Aug 2011 22:30:00 GMTPets N Patients with Ann Marie GlavianoAnn Marie Glaviano of PetsNPatients NFP which is a resource network of pet sitters and pet care volunteers who will help provide short term help for pets while their owners recover.  Long-term illness or serious accidents represents change and adaptation. It is a revived non-invasive ancient method of hands-on-healing.  REI means “universal” and refers also to the spiritual dimension and the soul.  KI means the vital life force energy, which flows through all that is alive.  Reiki energy is whole, not dual.  It is, therefore, neither positive nor negative, but rather is the combination of these qualities. Reiki energy comes from God and is an extremely powerful calming energy.  It is one of the few forms of healing that can be used to heal oneself.  Reiki does not conflict with other health-care, but enhances its results.  It does not interfere with traditional medical treatment, but facilitates benefits.  Reiki speeds the calming process, and provides a source of tranquil energy while one is ill, under medical treatment, or in recovery. Reiki is ideal with animals because it's noninvasive and gentle.  It's a calming relief for stress, discomfort, and pain and can yield some positively powerful results.  Animals respond intuitively to Reiki energy to heal emotional, behavioral, and physical injuries and illnesses.    The time around an pet's transition can be a period of great closeness, growth and transformation for the animal and caregiver.  00:31:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinoanimal reiki, pets, animal healing, animal communication, spiritualityJoin us as Robin and I discuss Animal Reiki.  Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word meaning "Universal or Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy". Friends and family may ask “What’s the big deal? It’s just a pet!” There is also the assumption by many that pet loss shouldn’t hurt as much as human loss, because humans are supposedly more important than pets. The truth is that all losses, animal or human, can plunge you into despair and may signal the beginning of a profound spiritual-emotional journey. Like grief for humans, grief for animal companions can only be dealt with over time and in stages.   00:31:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinopet grief, pet loss, grief support, spirituality, relationshipsGoodbye is never easy.  Grieving the loss of a pet is a normal response, and a very individual one.  One important difference between pet loss and human loss isPets Ministry - A ministry for people and their petshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2011/06/30/pets-ministry--a-ministry-for-people-and-their-petsPetshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2011/06/30/pets-ministry--a-ministry-for-people-and-their-pets/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/ministryofstfrancisofassisi/2011/06/30/pets-ministry--a-ministry-for-people-and-their-petsThu, 30 Jun 2011 22:30:00 GMTPets Ministry - A ministry for people and their petsPet ministry is about people and how we interconnect with the animals around us.  Most religions have traditions regarding the spirituality of animals and that intersects with human life is a positive way.  Some would say that in American culture, the reverence and respect for our animals has disappeared.  This is where Peaceful Planet Pets steps in.  We will attain peace by being responsible stewards for our planet.  We will attain peace by being responsible stewards for our pets.  Become eco-conscious.  Spay and neuter your pets.  Make a change that will affect us all - for the greater good. Pet ministry is how we can enrich our spiritual lives through our pets' lessons that they offer us each day - unconditional love, loyalty and a devotion to the very end as well as our quarterly pet grief programs which consists of day-long retreats designed to help us work through the grief of losing a beloved pet.  We learn from our animals to commune with nature and to work with all our senses - to smell the wind, hear the water, taste the rain, feel the moon, and see the spirits.  We are certain, no matter what our religious belief, that there is no heaven if our animal friends are not there with us.  Let us continue to give them a place in our homes and in our hearts. 00:30:00MinistryofStFrancisofAssisinopets,ministry,relationships,peace,spiritualityPet ministry is about people and how we interconnect with the animals around us.  Most religions have traditions regarding the spirituality of animals and that
