Merrick Deans was born and raised in Northern Virginia. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from George Mason University, he started his career working for E*Trade Financial as a Trade Desk Analyst and later transitioned to Federal contracting, working for Booz Allen Hamilton. Now he works for Pricewaterhouse Coopers as a Project Management Consultant with a focus in system implementation projects. Mr. Deans has served on a number of work related boards, both as a member of the Associates Forum and as the Chairman of the Staff Advisory Council, where his efforts and leadership bridged the gap between senior management and staff level employees regarding policy development, firm initiatives, and vertical communications. Additionally, Mr. Deans supported PwC’s Black Affinity Network in developing social and educational events to stimulate networking and knowledge transfer among the Firm’s African American employees. Merrick currently attends Mount Zion Baptist Church in Arlington, VA, where he serves as the Director of the Young Adult Ministry. He has worked with a number of young adults within his church over the past two years to expand the ministry. Now, the Young Adult Ministry hosts bi-weekly bible studies, quarterly programs focused on education, philanthropy, and fellowship, annual Emphasis events and sponsors college care packages. Merrick has recently pursued his vocation for teaching and has served in multiple teaching capacities within his church, having taught vacation bible school classes as well as teen and young adult bible studies. “Words From My Whiteboard” has become a regular staple in the growth of his inspirational social media presence.
