New York City has been known for having the Staten Island ferry that takes you from the borough of Manhattan to the borough of Staten Island.  That same ferry system takes you to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.  This system along with one that goes from Manhattan to New Jersey is along the Hudson River.

The East River is now getting it's share as New York City hired the company Hornblower to provide a system that will take you to all of the boroughs.  Rockaway, an island in Queens has had its commuting problems with people trying to get to work in Manhattan using trains and buses.  On May 1 of this year a ferry was put into place going from Rockaway to Wall St. with a stop in Brooklyn.  The success has been great for these commuters but overwhelming for beachgoers who can hop the ferry at Wall St and be at the beach in one hour.

We will be talking with Madalena Phillips, NYC Ferry by Hornblower's Director of Development, all about this new venture as well as what lies ahead.
