lean muscle is very much like building nerves of steel.  My recent training for my upcoming Stand Up Paddling (SUP) race, from doing hard core push ups on a SUP board in the water to competing in races resonates just how important it is to always have a cutting edge above your competitors.  There is something to be said of a compelling force that not only motivates you but establishes you as a winner, you are dynamic and successful and everyone wants to be you.  This is who I think of when I think of Edoardo Cannarsa, Director of MyEdo, and a luxury menswear-clothing platform.  Their trendy platform, available and accessible to customers internationally features Italian fashion brands such as Neill Katter who specializes  in Blazers like Vking do, Ricco for shoes and Di Biasi for shirts.  Their diverse range of brands caters for men aged 20-50’s so whether you are looking for a contemporary suit to wear at a gala event or something smashing for a hot date out, you have found the right Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening” and I am reminded of the vibrant charisma of FCM.  As one glances through the seductive personality of the magazine, you are ignited with the anticipation that you too can feel glamorous, charming as well as ravishing all at the same time.  FCM takes you to a world where you imagine yourself stepping off a yacht off an exotic island in Greece, wearing the most exquisite gown while photographers from around the globe beat each other up to get a glimpse of your enrapturing beauty.  That’s just the way I feel when I read FCM, but hey, you should read it for yourself to experience it.  I recently caught up with Becky Oraham at their PR office about some of the most exciting features of FCM.   They are also running a contest where you can send a photograph of yourself in your fashionable city.  These are to be sent to info@fashionchicagomagazine.com.  After the top five photographs have been chosen, they will be posted in an album on their fan page, so get those photographs going!   DEADLINE: Send them your photograph by Friday, July 13! 00:08:00Megan Schiebenofashion chicago magazine mj schiebe, fashion chicago magazine megan schiebe, megan schiebe FCM,mj schiebe FCM,mj schiebe becky orahamWhen I think of the charismatic Fashion Chicago Magazine (FCM), I think of one of my favorite quotes from the one and only Mademoiselle Coco Chanel “FaCatching Up with COO of SourceFound.com, Dennis Boyerhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2012/06/25/catching-up-with-coo-of-sourcefoundcom-dennis-boyerBusinesshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2012/06/25/catching-up-with-coo-of-sourcefoundcom-dennis-boyer/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2012/06/25/catching-up-with-coo-of-sourcefoundcom-dennis-boyerMon, 25 Jun 2012 16:00:00 GMTCatching Up with COO of SourceFound.com, Dennis Boyer One of the most exciting companies I have come to know recently is SourceFound.com.  Their innovative approach to connecting business across the country to vendors who offer invaluable services allows them to lead the industry in vendor connection strategies.  Take a look at my interview with COO and Co-Founder of SourceFound.com.  00:09:00Megan Schiebenomj schiebe dennis boyer,mj schiebe sourcefound.com,megan schiebe dennis boyer,sourcefound.com megan schiebe,sourcefound.com dennis boyerOne of the most exciting companies I have come to know recently is SourceFound.com.  Their innovative approach to connecting business across the country to vPeixoto shows us Summer Sizzleshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2012/06/25/peixoto-shows-us-summer-sizzlesDesignhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2012/06/25/peixoto-shows-us-summer-sizzles/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2012/06/25/peixoto-shows-us-summer-sizzlesMon, 25 Jun 2012 15:00:00 GMTPeixoto shows us Summer Sizzles When I think of a brand that exudes excitement, allure, sophistication and elegance all in one, I think about the Peixoto swimwear collection.  Each swimwear design and style is so uniquely matched to fit the personality of women around the world, who not only wants to feel sensual, but who also wants to make a statement about their enthusiastic approach to feeling good.  I recently had the opportunity to speak with the multi-talented and extensively traveled Colombian-Italian Swimwear Designer, Mauricio Esquenazi, about his collection, Peixoto, and how this brand has evolved since its inception.  Take a look at our interview.    00:16:00Megan SchiebenoMauricio Esquenazi mj schiebe,Mauricio Esquenazi megan schiebe,Mauricio Esquenazi swimwear designer,Mauricio Esquenazi peixoto, peixoto mj schiebeWhen I think of a brand that exudes excitement, allure, sophistication and elegance all in one, I think about the Peixoto swimwear collection.  Each swimwearCatching up with Nina Ferrerhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2012/05/30/catching-up-with-nina-ferrerDesignhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2012/05/30/catching-up-with-nina-ferrer/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2012/05/30/catching-up-with-nina-ferrerWed, 30 May 2012 20:00:00 GMTCatching up with Nina Ferrer Pull out a map. that’s how I choose to live my fashion personality.  It’s not just about wearing that short little black dress that makes eyes drool as you glide through the room, but about making eyes fall in love with that little black dress as you glide through the room.  This is you telling the world the story of your life, your passions, desires and the energy you exude all in one little black dress.  No one illustrates this better than Lesley Scott, Editor-in-chief of Fashiontribes.  Lesley’s lust for travel combined with her dexterous fashion writing has allowed her to experience magical moments Ryan Beaver Once in a while we’ll hear a love song that reminds us of the exhilaration of a new romance, when we allow all of our resistance to dissolve and we just really experience the chemistry that pulls us to a new love.  This was one of my first thoughts as I listened to “I Shoulda Kissed You” by Ryan Beaver.  Its sweet melody coupled with Ryan’s captivating voice could make even those non-believers fall in love all over again and yes, dudes, that includes you too!  This up-and-coming Texas based singer/songwriter is not only showing his true accomplishments here at home, but his music is being reached in more than thirteen countries abroad, which undoubtedly, always excites me when an artist is truly able to express their work in multiple cultural paradigms. “Music is a soundtrack for our life and we associate different songs or music with different things that are happening in our lives, that’s why it’s so cool” is just some of what Ryan and I got a chance to chat about.    Take a look at our interview. 00:12:00Megan Schiebenoryan beaver, ryan beaver show dates, ryan beaver austin tx,ryan beaver constant, ryan beaver boarding passOnce in a while we’ll hear a love song that reminds us of the exhilaration of a new romance, when we allow all of our resistance to dissolve and we just realGetting Trendy with Trophy Boutiquehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/09/28/getting-trendy-with-trophy-boutiqueDesignhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/09/28/getting-trendy-with-trophy-boutique/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/09/28/getting-trendy-with-trophy-boutiqueWed, 28 Sep 2011 20:00:00 GMTGetting Trendy with Trophy Boutique It’s a Wednesday night, you and your gals are meeting for Godiva Chocolate Martini’s  downtown and of course, Janie Smith will be there looking absolutely fabulous as usual with her perfectly articulated outfit and smashing stiletto’s to go.  But how about just ONCE, you could out-style Janie with your stylish red jeans, knee-high leather boots and powder blue strapless shirt and have all the dudes buy you Godiva Chocolate Martini’s for a change??  Yes, ladies, guys are looking at how you’re styling it up, but more importantly, when you look confident with your style, people notice your confidence, your demeanor magnetizes people towards you and you create your mark as that unique-looking lovely lady who knows her style.  Do we have your attention yet…do we have you wondering how this could be you, do you want to feel amazing as you walk down the street and have everyone think “WOW, her outfit just looks great”?  Laurel Kinney, blogger at Trophy Boutique, knows all to well about this. front of thousands of marines and soldiers with the “Feeding Freedom” program, a campaign sponsored by Outback Steakhouse?  This increasingly popular annual campaign is a phenomenal program which feeds our troops and brings them a taste of home, which was a terrific opportunity for Ayla when she was chosen to perform with this campaign. “It was amazing to see the marines and soldiers and air-forces’ faces…to be able to go and relax at a concert that me and my band would put on for them and it made me feel very grounded and fortunate that I was able to do everything I wanted to do every single day and I definitely took for granted everything these men and women do for us in this country”.   As you listen to our interview, you are compelled by Ayla’s experiences, of what it was through a lot of motivation and determination, push themselves to the extreme to be able to tour, perform and live their dreams the way it is meant to be – to live creatively.  Over the last few months, I have come to really understand all of the emotions involved when you’ve just find out that you’ll be touring; the dedication it takes to sit in a recording studio day in and day out to make sure that your album is released on schedule and the challenges of securing a label to sign up with.  All of these experiences have really pushed me to ask, how is that more bands can connect with global counterparts in being able to promote their music and how can we bring these ties closer?  So often I hear from bands that may not necessarily have a large crowd turnout in their specific region, but once they tour internationally, the turnout is incredible.  What are the options out there for bands wanting to go global? This had led me to research these challenges and I was really eager and excited when I found out about Radar Music Videos, based in the UK, who are very much involved in connecting huge pools of labels, artists, video networks and fans around the world.   Their core function is to assist in creating music videos, distributing these videos and then promoting these videos through influential next few weeks.  This is a band that through tremendous determination have left their homes in so many different parts of the country to be able to live and perform in the Live Music Capital of the world.  I asked Dan Walker, bass player, about some of their highlights this far, “we toured all throughout the Midwest and it’s one of those great experiences just going from night to night playing a show each night, running on a couple of hours of sleep...rewarding to go into a town and see that people are excited about live music, they want to be a part of live music’, which is some of what Caleb Scates, Dan Walker and Jonathan Palmer and I got to chat about.  What I really like about this band is that they all have such unique personalities, which works well in the deliverance of their music style.  I got a chance to learn and understand what it is that keeps this band continually pursuing greater ambitions and so can you, take a look at our interview. 00:11:00Megan Schiebenoradio There is something to be said of a band, dubbed by the Austin Chronicle as 'electroshock therapy', when you're chillaxing on your balcony at 6 in the morning, inhaling the sweet scents of dew tip-toeing from one Rosemary to the next.  As I’m listening to their track, Reel, I think of a comment RiTch N, keyboard player for Panjoma made, where he describes their style as “being filters for the rest of the world’s energy” and that’s exactly how I felt.  The hybrid of instrumental fusion of electro, IDM, industrial and downtempo tones allows you to really understand how it is that RiTch N’s knowledge of circuitry & skills in the production studio combined with Patrik’s twenty years experience playing bass and Mary’s hypnotizing voice takes this ensemble of extreme talent to unrestrained paradigms.  Panjoma’s been around since 2005 when Patrik Nillson recognized the insatiable talent with then girlfriend, Mary Abshier a.k.a. Mary Panjoma and channeled her background in music theory, piano, jazz vox and guitar.     I met up with Mary, Patrik and RiTch N at one of my favorite coffee shops in E Austin, Rio Rita, one evening just hanging out, laughing about how the band got together, how live electronic music is spearheading some really new technology being used in creating music, their upcoming tours and concerts, etc.  Take a look at our interview.  Panjoma http://panjoma.com/ 00:12:00Megan Schiebenopanjoma, live electronic, electronic austin,Panjoma Music,Panjoma Live ElectronicThere is something to be said of a band, dubbed by the Austin Chronicle as 'electroshock therapy', when you're chillaxing on your balcony at 6 in the morning,Eric Byington of Calling All Crowshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/04/08/eric-byington-of-calling-all-crowsMusichttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/04/08/eric-byington-of-calling-all-crows/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/04/08/eric-byington-of-calling-all-crowsFri, 08 Apr 2011 00:00:00 GMTEric Byington of Calling All Crows   For those of you who haven’t heard of Eric Byington, look him up on Twitter - he’s really interesting.  Eric Byington not only gets to jet set with bands touring the US, he also works closely with an organization called Calling All Crows, which raises funds in empowering women around the world.   Yes, several organizations do this, but what I like about this organization is their strategy in bringing focus to these worldwide issues.  Founded in 2008 by musician Chad Stokes and tour manager Sybil Gallagher, Calling All Crows has raised more than $200, 000 to empower women in Sudan and Afghanistan through volunteerism, advocacy and humanitarian aid.  The really awesome aspect of their campaign is they get to work with so many bands and musicians around the country, fans eagerly waiting to hear about their upcoming gigs and of course, they have tremendous opportunities for volunteers around the country to get involved by talking about these issues at live music gigs.  I know you are reading this thinking, wow, this sounds really fascinating…it is!  Take a look and see how you can become involved.   00:12:00Megan Schiebenocalling all crows, eric byington, afghanistan sudan relief, volunteer calling all crows, band volunteer calling all crowsFor those of you who haven’t heard of Eric Byington, look him up on Twitter - he’s really interesting.  Eric Byington not only gets to jet set with banAlex Cottin, Regional Director, Merlin USAhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/04/07/alex-cottin-regional-director-merlin-usaCulturehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/04/07/alex-cottin-regional-director-merlin-usa/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/04/07/alex-cottin-regional-director-merlin-usaThu, 07 Apr 2011 23:00:00 GMTAlex Cottin, Regional Director, Merlin USA   When most of think or hear of Haiti, we remember that fatal day of January 12, 2010 and the calamitous consequences of the events which occurred.  But how many of us can visualize a Haiti of empowering beauty, stretches of white sand tickling through our toes, a Haiti with a flavor of rich aromas amalgamating of African and French cuisines, a Haiti of tangerine sunsets painting the skies?  This dichotomy of a paradise in the process of being rebuilt and reconstructed lies very close to our doorstep.  The people of Haiti have undergone not just the loss of their entire livelihood, but also the drastic implications of how to start from over and start living again.  I invited one of my favorite people back on our show, Alex Cottin, Regional Director for Merlin USA, to discuss some of the work that Merlin continues to execute in providing medical relief for so many Haitians who continue to struggle through a plethora of hurdles.  Alex and I discuss providing shelters which is still a challenge, how Merlin is providing mobile clinics around the island as well as how this is affording essential healthcare for civilians not able to reach hospitals in the more populated cities.  Take a look. 00:15:00Megan Schiebenomerlin usa, alex cottin, haiti relief, merlin mobile clinics, merlin haitiWhen most of think or hear of Haiti, we remember that fatal day of January 12, 2010 and the calamitous consequences of the events which occurred.  ButEdge of 7http://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/04/01/edge-of-7Travelhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/04/01/edge-of-7/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/megan-schiebe/2011/04/01/edge-of-7Fri, 01 Apr 2011 18:00:00 GMTEdge of 7If the number 7 is your lucky number, you definitely want to listen in on this interview. I had read about Laurie and her organization through GivingCity, an online philanthropic magazine. Laurie’s background as a realtor, together with her charisma has allowed her to spearhead a phenomenal program offering home buyers the opportunity to decide which non profit they would like Laurie’s organization to make a donation to. Currently, Laurie’s organization has donated just under $100, 000 to non profits throughout Central Texas. What I like about this initiative is that it is being lead by a woman who is really excited and enthusiastic about helping non profits, and she has accommodated her business model to include this. Nikki’s excitement encompasses her volunteer experience starting in 2008 doing volunteer work in Guatemala with the Whole Foods Team Member Volunteer Program, a phenomenal program offering Whole Foods Market staff members the opportunity to volunteer abroad. Nikki describes this program as all-inclusive – a program issuing microloans as well as empowering community development and an incredible way to meet some of the borrowers of these microloans which are being issued. Nikki also tells us how she was able to get a much wider picture of what is really happening in these communities as well as her experience volunteering in schools and teaching Spanish and building stoves. One story which really sticks out is a story of how a family of nine was living in a 10x10 foot mud hut with an open flame for cooking, up until the volunteer team was able to build a stove in their mud hut. Another story Nikki elaborates on is how two students used paper designated for their homework, as paper to start a fire to cook a meal n their mud hut. What does rock bottom look like? Upon arriving to Whole Planet Foundation’s head office, one is immediately taken back by the huge murals displaying photographs of families around the world benefiting from microloans which Whole Planet Foundations issues to microfinance institutions globally. My interview with Joy touches on various aspects from defining microcredit loans and their benefits to the current Team Member Volunteer Program which Whole Foods Market offers to their employees, allowing employees to do volunteer work in countries such as Costa Rica and Guatemala. One of the really extraordinary aspects of this program is that employees are given an opportunity first hand to see and experience the communities these microloans are benefiting and in several cases, coming back home and working on various campaigns to bring awareness to these projects.
