My guest will be Tom Glendening of E3Think. Tom specializes in cities, buildings, transit and energy. In today's program, which is a continuation of our series on investment-grade, disruptive urban invention, we will be discussing water transportation. A prerequisite to dramatic increases in water transportation are many land-based improvements (including last mile transportation solutions to the water’s edge). So rather than discussing a specific disruptive water transportation innovation, we will focus on private sector ways to pay for very large improvements to the waterfront, not only to enable expanded water transportation, but also to finance improvements necessary to make cities more resilient to climate change.
