Mayi Ngwala

 
Mayi was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He’s a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, and the former
Hollywood Scriptwriting Institute, with such alumnus as writer, director, and Emmy award Winner Rudy DeLuca, and New York Times bestselling author, playwright, columnist, and Academy of Television, Arts, and Sciences past Blue Ribbon Panel Judge, Jennie Louise Frankel who also served on its Board of Governors. Mayi was trained in the art of storytelling and screenwriting by mentor, noted writer, and Iowa Walk of
Fame inductee Earl D. Blakesley, Jr., whose screen credits include acclaimed television shows Tour of Duty and China Beach. Congo: Spirit of Darkness is Mayi’s joint debut
novel with co-author and brother, Allain Ngwala. Mayi was nominated for Outstanding Literary Work - Debut Author from America’s leading award, the NAACP Image Awards. Mayi has been a guest on CTV News in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Congo: Spirit of Darkness, which includes the short story Children of the Night, has been featured on BBC Radio (UK), The Gazette Newspaper (USA), Cambridge News, Hunts Post 24, and garnered a listing in the Los Angeles Times and The Hollywood Reporter. Mayi is completing work on his second novel, a mystery thriller, which will be released in 2014,
and has begun work on his third novel. He lives in Maryland with his wife, Nakia T. Ngwala, and their two sons.
