Edward Reid was born in Chicago Illinois in 1964. He was raised by hardworking parents; his father was a professional jazz musician. This would be the spark for Ed’s musical interest at a young age. Through his fathers encouragement he studied music at Martin Luther King High School where he was a member of the highly regarded marching band for four years.
Ed Reid went back to college at Florida Memorial University and took Business Management courses in order to learn to construct and utilize an effective business plan for Ejeff Music. In 1992, with a thirst to continue to educate others still burning inside, Ed started to publish the Florida Music Letter, an educational newsletter that reached the music community throughout the state of Florida. However, in 1994 Ed would halt publishing the Florida Music Letter and work for JAM Entertainment News, a regional Florida music magazine. For the next twelve years Ed Reid would work in the newspaper industry - Miami New Times, Miami Herald and Miami Sun Post until finally deciding it was time to start publishing his own journals.
Ed expanded his music publishing company to Ejeff Media, encompassing music, blogs, books and online radio. The first electronic publication would be Weekly Music Commentary: a weekly examination of musicians past and present based on current events in the news. Also Florida Music Letter: a monthly educational blog featuring a music maker from the state of Florida. The fall of the year 2013 promises to bring Soundrise Radio: an online radio station featuring young music makers on the rise.
