After reading the book ACRES OF DIAMONDS by Russell Conwell, I am convinced we are all leaving the diamond mines in our own backyards as we travel around the world looking for larger diamonds, when in fact the diamonds we seek are found within us and our hometown, from whence we came. Therefore, we are calling the podcast, #IAMRIVIERABEACH.
Today's Guest: Billie Brooks

Billie Brooks has been a native of Riviera Beach ever since graduating from Roosevelt High School. She attended and received her Bachelor’s from Tuskegee Institute and received her Master of Social Work from Barry University. Mrs. Brooks went on to become a small business owner, operating not one, not two, but three businesses. While residing in Riviera Beach, Mrs. Brooks makes sure that she’s involved and active within the community. In 2001, she was on the Riviera Beach police pension board; she has served two terms on the Riviera Beach City Council and Community Redevelopment Agency, she was Kiwanis Northside former president, and she is on the board for the Children’s Services Council.

Furthermore, Mrs. Brooks is a mother of two adult children and the wife of Riviera Beach’s first ever black Mayor, Bobbie E. Brooks Sr. This made Mrs. Brooks the First Lady of Riviera Beach for 12 years. Now, this is a full circle moment as she intends to run for mayor for the great city of Riviera Beach.
