A Commitment to Excellence with Dr. Joyce Kenner, Principal of Whitney M. Young Magnet

Dr. Joyce Kenner is committed to providing the best possible education for young scholars. In her 15 years as principal she has achieved excellence in the arts and athletics, computerized the entire school operation, and maintained Whitney Young's national reputation as a school of academic distinction. After receiving her BS from Ohio University, she went on to pursue a Master's degree at Wright State University and a Doctorate at Loyola University. She is currently a member of the Illinois High School Advisory Committe and has served on the NASSP Urban Schools National Committee and the Athletic Association Executive Board in the past. In addition, Dr. Kenner has received numerous awards, including the Chicago Public Schools Outstanding Leadership Award and the Today's Chicago Woman Magazine Award. Dr. Kenner continues to be a major figure in the Chicago Public School system and remains committed to preparing students for higher education in the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country.
