Dr. Alvaro Huerta, a Visiting Scholar at UCLA’s Chicano Studies Research Center, is an inter-disciplinary scholar of urban planning and Chicana/o studies. He conducts research on community development, immigration, social movements, ethnic economies, gendered labor niches and the informal economy. Dr. Huerta is the author of the book, Reframing the Latino Immigration Debate: Towards a Humanistic Paradigm, by San Diego State University Press (2013). He is also the co-editor of a forthcoming, edited volume on migration and immigration. He holds a B.A. in history and M.A. in urban planning from UCLA.
