Unfortuantley, human beings are infamous for beating one another up. There are countless examples of man's inhumanity to man:   war, hunger, violence, poverty, and environmental plundering.  The stress we experience only a daily basis can lead to stress, anxiety, and depression.  Too often, we cope with our suffering by using alcohol, drugs, and food (overeating).  But, there is another way. We can each take personal responsibilty for what's happening in the world and create opportunities to change it.  "How?" you might ask.  Well, by looking inward and outward for ways to create peace and heal yourself and the world!  You can do this by developing inner peace, growing your personal awareness, understanding the inner and outer dynamics at play, becoming emotionally intelligent (balancing your thoughts with your emotions), and intentionally practicing love and compassion. Join us in a lively discussion and learn how you can train your mind to engage in peaceful thoughts which can, in turn, develop peaceful actions. 00:30:00Living Life Powerfullynolove and relationships,Kindness, compassion, peaceFear and anger have been dominating America's airwaves during the past few months, but there is another answer: PeaceCompassion: The Power Of An Open Hearthttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2016/03/14/compassion-the-power-of-an-open-heartSelf Helphttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2016/03/14/compassion-the-power-of-an-open-heart/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2016/03/14/compassion-the-power-of-an-open-heartMon, 14 Mar 2016 12:00:00 GMTCompassion: The Power Of An Open HeartDalai Lama states, "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. As we mature into adulthood, our network and sense of connection reaches even further into social clubs (fraternities, sorority), the local community, and perhaps even national or global organizations.   With so much attention focused outside of ourselves, it can be a challenge to develop a deep connection and love of ourselves. Every human being yearns to love and be loved. While there is nothing wrong with developing relationships with others, the greatest love we can experience is a profound connection to ourselves. Learning to love yourself may sound like a simple thing to do, but it's not necessarily easy. In fact, many people struggle with how to overcome self-doubt, insecurity, judgment, and fear.  Join us for an engaging discussion on how to experience the greatest love of all:  Self-love!         00:30:00Living Life PowerfullynoLove, self acceptance,Women, relationshipsMost of us focus on developing relationships with our spouses, children, and friends. On one hand, relationships are full of pleasure.  We relish in the idea of being "in love" and we enjoy the "honeymoon phase" when we get to dote on our partners with affection and adoration. On the other hand, after the honeymoon phase, we settle into the painful part of being with one another.  We begin to see our partners as flawed, the relationship begins to feel like "work," and we have to fight just to maintain a sense of togetherness.  However, there is a more dynamic and fulfilling way to view relationships than from this "pleasure or pain" cycle.  Relationships are playgrounds for deeper learning, growth, and healing. When we step outside of the stereotypical way of approaching relationships, there is a unique opportunity to move beyond blame, shame and guilt and create deeper intimacy within ourselves and with one another. Join us for a conversation with Colette Pfeiffer, a couples and group therapist from Boulder, Colorado, as we discuss how relationships are tools for deeper growth and development. 00:31:00Living Life Powerfullynorelationships, healing, therapy,Women, happinessRelationships Have a Deeper Purpose in Our Lives.Boundaries: Redefining the Selfhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2016/02/15/boundaries-redefining-the-selfSelf Helphttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2016/02/15/boundaries-redefining-the-self/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2016/02/15/boundaries-redefining-the-selfMon, 15 Feb 2016 13:00:00 GMTBoundaries: Redefining the SelfRobert Frost says, "Good fences make good neigbors." Fear is a distressing emotion that is caused by an impending threat of danger or pain.  Regardless of whether the fear is based on a real or imagined harm, it can cause a tremendous amount of anxiety and stress.  Why?  Because we believe the thing we’re afraid of is going to happen! Deepening Your DesiresDesire occurs when we have a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen.  It's important to acknowledge that desire is a sense of longing or hoping for a person, object, or outcome- that we all experience. We all long for something.   Marketing and advertising companies use desire to help their clients attract customers.  In fact, they use psychological research on desire to determine how people are stimulated to find more effective ways to induce consumers into buying a given product or service.  We can see the outward manifestations of desire, but what are the inner longings of your heart.  What are you longing for?  What are your heart's desire?       00:31:00Living Life Powerfullynodesire,Women, happinessMany of us have a longing, a desire to be more, to express more, to love or be loved more...Addiction: A Spiritual Perspective for Healinghttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2015/11/23/addiction-a-spiritual-perspective-for-healingSelf Helphttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2015/11/23/addiction-a-spiritual-perspective-for-healing/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2015/11/23/addiction-a-spiritual-perspective-for-healingMon, 23 Nov 2015 13:00:00 GMTAddiction: A Spiritual Perspective for HealingAddictions come in many forms.  People compulsively use drugs, gamble, shop, use social media, and engage in sex.  Nearly always, this is done in reaction to being emotionally stressed, whether or not there is a physical condition present.  We won't consider the debate regarding whether addiction is a "disease."  We will, however, consider the power and purpose of using spirituality as a healing tool. Why is spirituality such a wonderful force for good? One reason is that it recognizes there’s a power governing the universe that is greater than the limitations of the self. There’s a belief in an interconnectedness of all living beings. The desire and pursuit of understanding, peace, self-knowledge, meaning, and purpose in one’s life becomes primary goals for those on a spiritual path. It is this quest that can help those suffering from addiction find freedom. What are you addicted to?  Consider this as we discuss how walking a consistent spiritual path can help you!     00:31:00Living Life Powerfullynoaddiction,Food Addiction, substance abuseWe're all addicted to something: A consistent spiritual faith and practice can heal it all!Disconnecting from the Matrix: Eliminating Our Constant Desire for Social Mediahttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2015/11/16/disconnecting-from-the-matrix-eliminating-our-constant-desire-for-social-mediaSelf Helphttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2015/11/16/disconnecting-from-the-matrix-eliminating-our-constant-desire-for-social-media/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/livinglifepowerfully/2015/11/16/disconnecting-from-the-matrix-eliminating-our-constant-desire-for-social-mediaMon, 16 Nov 2015 13:00:00 GMTDisconnecting from the Matrix: Eliminating Our Constant Desire for Social MediaWe are connected now more than ever. Spiritual and religious leaders including the Dalia Lama and countless others have written books on gratefulness.  Actors, bloggers, and even talk show hosts—including the queen herself---Oprah Winfrey have advocated for a consistent and robust gratitude practice. It’s important now, more than ever, to focus on our many blessings. We live in a hectic and oftentimes chaotic world.  Stressors are all around us.  Pressure to perform at work and at home, the desire to achieve and be successful, and the never-ending quest for more can easily have us feeling a sense of lack…like what we’re doing is never enough.  Instead of focusing on what’s missing, gratitude requires that we focus on the abundance that is already present in our lives. Being grateful allows us to take account of everything we are thankful for, to count our blessings, notice the little pleasures, and acknowledge everything-even the small things-that bring joy and purpose to our lives. During today’s show we’re going to discuss ways of practicing gratitude that can help you feel more connected to yourself and what’s wonderful in your world—from the tiniest of things to the grandest of our blessings.  Join us for this lively discussion show. 00:31:00Living Life PowerfullynoGratefulness, joy, happiness,BUSYNESS,WomenPracticing Gratefulness can Improve the Quality of Your Life: So What are You Thankful For?What's On Your Mind? One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.”  When we love ourselves enough to express our passion and be true to our heart’s desire, we not only live from a place of inner power-but we create greater joy for ourselves and those in the world around us! Anger and resentment occur for two primary reasons:     1)  You believe someone or something prevents you from getting what you want.     2)  You believe something should or should not be happening the way it is happening. Sheppard describes alchemy as:  The art of liberating parts of the Cosmos from temporal existence and achieving perfection which, for metals is gold, and for man, longevity, then immortality and, finally, redemption. Material perfection was sought through the action of a preparation (Philosopher's Stone for metals; Elixir of Life for humans), while spiritual ennoblement resulted from some form of inner revelation or other enlightenment (Gnosis, for example, in Hellenistic and western practices and metals were believed not only to be alive but also to grow inside the Earth. Put simply, you and only you are responsible for your actions, the consequences that are derived from your actions and creating happiness in your world.  Alchemy attempts to expand your spirit into realms of awareness previously hidden from consciousness, so you can ultimately experience free-will and manifest whatever you’d like in this world.  Join us, today, for a discussion on how you can use alchemy to heal and manifest greater joy in your daily life! 00:31:00Living Life PowerfullynoSpirituality Positive Energy,joy,happiness,well-being,WomenAlchemy is rooted in a complex spiritual worldview in which everything around us contains a sort of universal spirit.  H.J. What Parts of Myself am I Conscious of? Part II of a Two Part SeriesHow do you live an empowered, conscious, life?  Most of us aren’t taught how to live intentionally and learn from life’s experiences.  Today, on Living Life Powerfully, we will explore how you can know yourself and also relate to the world through more than the subjective perspective of the persona or personality.   Most of us are consciously aware of only a small portion of what is available to us because the ego or personality is a limited way of seeing the self.  Awakening to an awareness of the personality and its drivers can provide a window into what is beyond the ego.  Maslow suggests it is healthy for people to “dip into the unconscious and preconscious, to use and value their primary processes instead of fearing them, to accept their impulses instead of always controlling them.”   During today's show, we're going to explore  how you might be identifying with aspects of self by looking at your "Little Self" (e.g., roles, responsibilities, internal/external focus) and your Core Self (e.g., Who would you be without your roles as mothers, daughters, wives?).   00:31:00Living Life PowerfullynoWomen,Spirituality Positive Energy,Personality, joy, happinessHow do you live an empowered, conscious, life?  Most of us aren’t taught how to live intentionally and learn from life’s experiences.  Today, on Living Life PowWho Am I, Really? Part I of a Two Part SeriesMost of us only know a very limited part of who we are. We call this part of the self the personality and it's based on the ego.  The ego is one of three theoretical constructs (e.g., Id, Ego, and Super-ego) that make up the psyche.  Essentially, the ego represents the personality you created and have evolved over your lifetime.  It represents the part of yourself you are most consciously aware of.  For example, your personality represents various traits and characteristics you might identify with including, but not limited to, your likes and dislikes, whether you relate to being introverted or extroverted, and how you identify yourself in the world (e.g., mother, father, professional, optimist, pessimist, etc).   Much of the time your ego is running the show of your life.  However, as much as you might know yourself, the ego is a very limited aspect of who you really are.  Today, we're going to cover part one of a two part series concerning the question, Who Am I? by exploring what it means to be conscious of the personality you've created. Consider these questions: 1.   How Do I Define Myself?    2.  How Might I Interact with the various aspects of myself?:  Mind, Body, Spirit, Sexuality, and Emotions.  3.
