“Letting Go”

We attach ourselves to people and things and believe without them life with not be beautiful, that we cannot live and breathe, we feel we have to keep up with what society has deemed worthy and acceptable, then we feel ashamed when we can’t seem to fall into these generic categories, we attach ourselves to names and causes and allow each one to define us, we attach ourselves to images, expectations, we feel we deserve this and that, we hold grudges and hold on tight to our past, we attach ourselves to our emotions, our families, our friends, sometimes we obsessively cling to familiar objects for fear of losing what they have come to represent, then we manage to convince ourselves that such objects are the source of our comfort and confidence in life.

Whether its money, cars, houses, designer whatever, latest technology, the town we grew up in, our partners, or our beliefs, we all have our own special inventory of “something’s” which we would rather fight the world, before we willingly let go of them. 99% of the suffering we experience is because of attachments.
