"It was just an ordinary Sunday. What were excited that it was Youth Sunday, which meant we were in charge of every aspect of church that day, from reading the scripture, to reading announcements to bringing the morning message," says the civil-rights activist, whose 2011 memoir, While the World Watched: A Birmingham Bombing Survivor Comes of Age during the Civil Rights Movement, recounts the horrific event. "There were two things on my mind that morning: That I was the Sunday school secretary, and I really was proud of having that job, because I was only in the seventh grade. And the second thing was that Cynthia's father was my elementary school principal, and Cynthia and I were in a social club together. We'd visit at each other's homes and drink punch and play records and just laugh and act silly as girls do. But that week, we'd placed an add in the Birmingham World newspaper announcing that the Cavalettes Club would meet Sept. 15. And then it gave you the names of the girls in the club, but it also said don't forget to bring your $3—we were ordering caps and T-shirts for everybody. So I was excited when I went to church that morning. Then all I remember after the bombing was that I went from dancing on tiptoes to just numb that evening and night and on into the week." 00:25:00Lincoln LoungenoCarolyn Maull McKinstry,While the World Watched A Birmingham Bombing Survivor,Marie Stroughter,African American Conservatives,Lincoln MKX Presents HistoryAfrican American Conservatives host Marie Stroughter goes one on one with Carolyn Maull McKinstry, eyewitness to the 1963 Ku Klux Klan perpetrated 16th Street BLincoln MKX Presents POETRY: Open-Mic Love Jamhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/lincolnmkx/2012/02/07/lincoln-mkx-presents-poetry-open-mic-love-jamArthttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/lincolnmkx/2012/02/07/lincoln-mkx-presents-poetry-open-mic-love-jam/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/lincolnmkx/2012/02/07/lincoln-mkx-presents-poetry-open-mic-love-jamTue, 07 Feb 2012 02:00:00 GMTLincoln MKX Presents POETRY: Open-Mic Love JamThe Speakeasy Café host Nyla Allisia welcomes romantic scribes from around America for an open-mic poetry jam. "A few years ago, he had a comedy club here in Atlanta called Chris Tucker's Comedy. I was headlining at the room, and I came out and told the audience that I didn't feel good, and they laughed because they thought it was part of my show," the funny lady says. "The next thing you know, I was on the floor, holding my head, and his brother, Dexter Tucker, was standing over me, tellin' the people on the phone, 'Y'all need to get here. This girl done passed out onstage.' When they took me to the hospital, they realized I had an aneurism. But I'm so happy to tell you about that because, according to the statistics, I'm not supposed to be here. I was blind in my left eye and paralyzed on my left side. But now I can see you and touch you just as good as anybody. Because God made me 'The Chozen 1.'" 00:23:00Lincoln LoungenoDiane Corder,The Chozen One,Lets Be Frank Franklin Anderson,Chris Tucker,Lincoln MKX Presents ComedyLet's Be Frank host Franklin Anderson chats with Def Comedy Jam star Diane Corder, who reveals how she got her moniker - and the role that superstar Chris TuckeLincoln MKX Presents BUSINESS: Entrepreneur Brian Jouberthttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/lincolnmkx/2012/01/31/lincoln-mkx-presents-business-entrepreneur-brian-joubertBusinesshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/lincolnmkx/2012/01/31/lincoln-mkx-presents-business-entrepreneur-brian-joubert/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/lincolnmkx/2012/01/31/lincoln-mkx-presents-business-entrepreneur-brian-joubertTue, 31 Jan 2012 01:00:00 GMTLincoln MKX Presents BUSINESS: Entrepreneur Brian JoubertSurvive 365 host Klarque Garrison talks with self-made millionaire Brian Joubert, whose new book is titled Running with Blinders: The Top 17 Mistakes of Small Businesses. The author has this to say to the hoards of would-be entrepreneurs who put off starting their business due to lack of bucks: "If you wait on getting the money, you're probably going to be waiting your whole life. I tell people to challenge your thinking. Ask yourself, How long have I been saying that - when I get the money? Because it's not always about the money. It's often about the knowledge. And once you have the knowledge, you can get the money." 00:15:00Lincoln LoungenoBrian Joubert,Running with Blinders,Klarque Garrison, starting a business,Lincoln MKX Presents BusinessSurvive 365 host Klarque Garrison talks with self-made millionaire Brian Joubert, whose new book is titled Running with Blinders: The Top 17 Mistakes of Small BLincoln MKX Presents PHILANTHROPY: CNN's Soledad O'Brienhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/lincolnmkx/2012/01/31/lincoln-mkx-presents-philanthropy-cnns-soledad-obrienEducationhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/lincolnmkx/2012/01/31/lincoln-mkx-presents-philanthropy-cnns-soledad-obrien/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/lincolnmkx/2012/01/31/lincoln-mkx-presents-philanthropy-cnns-soledad-obrienTue, 31 Jan 2012 01:00:00 GMTLincoln MKX Presents PHILANTHROPY: CNN's Soledad O'BrienSaturday Mornings host Joy Keys chats with Soledad O'Brien, for whom philanthropy begins at home - and then expands into communities across America. In August 2011, the CNN anchor teamed up with investment-banker hubby Brad Raymond on The Soledad O'Brien & Brad Raymond Foundation, which "provides young women with a bridge between obstacles and opportunity." Here she recounts how the org came to be: "It started in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. My best friend, who's from New Orleans - and was my executive producer at CNN - called me one day. She'd moved back to try and rebuild her house. And she said, 'There's a girl here who needs a scholarship for school. Can you help her pay for tuition?' And my husband and I said sure. So we started funding small grants to young women who were trying to figure out their educational situation in a really bad enviromnent. For these girls, there's no cushion - no sort of, Oh, I'll borrow the money from my aunt, or work an extra job or take the money out of a 401(k) that my dad has." 00:20:00Lincoln LoungenoSoledad OBrien CNN,Brad Raymond foundation,Hurricane Katrina,Saturday Mornings with Joy Keys,Lincoln MKX Presents PhilanthropySaturday Mornings host Joy Keys chats with Soledad O'Brien, for whom philanthropy begins at home - and then expands into communities across America. "It's a lonley place out there. A lot of people don't understand that," she says of life on the road in the league. "These players go to hotels. They arrive one, two, three in the morning. Nobody's in the room. They try to order room service; some hotels don't even have it at that time, so they just turn on the TV. All the glitz and glam is when the lights are on and they're on the floor and there's thousands of cheering fans. But when them lights go off and you get on that plane - half the time it's freezing cold," continues the No Ordinary Love author. "I lived the life with Doug and I saw it. And I loved being able to sit there and cuddle my huband, and if he didn't have a good game I could look at him right in the eye and tell him it's OK, because you can get right back out there and play again and win the next one."   00:27:00Lincoln LoungenoJackie Christie,Doug Christie,Basketball Wives LA,Rodney Perry Live,Lincoln MKX Presents FamilyRodney Perry Live host Rodney Perry gets up close and personal with Jackie Christie – whom no one can accuse of not standing by her man, former NBA shooting gua
