Defend Yourself! Special Guest, Kisha SimonKisha Simon is a representative with Damsel in Defense. Damsel in Defense was founded in September 2011 by Mindy Lin and Bethany Hughes, two friends with a passion for safety. Looking at the US national statistics of crimes against women, they knew they needed to make products available to other safety-conscious women. Appreciating safety just as much as a great accessory, they set out and formed a line of safe and sassy products. They wanted a line women would feel fashionable carrying while being Equipped, Empowered, and Educated. The products received an overwhelming response in their home state of Idaho; but being busy moms of little ones, they could not get products to the rest of the country on their own. In October 2011, Damsel in Defense signed it’s first Independent Damsel Pro with a goal of 100 nationwide Damsel Pros within a year. Within one year they had reached 1,000 Independent Damsel Pros and in just over three years, Damsel in Defense has welcomed nearly 8,000 Independent Damsel Pros to its’ nationwide team. Damsel in Defense is about equipping women with the tools to not only keep us safe but to give us the confidence to know we have a way out if we ever feel threatened. All of our products are non-lethal and covered by warranties. Damsel in Defense has the products and fact-based education that can and does save lives. We pride ourselves on making women feel more comfortable about arming themselves. Our mission consists of three principles that together we feel can change the world one Damsel at a time. There are existing marks on the entertainment industry and they all read, Jameka S. Whitten was here. To call her a Renaissance woman is an understatement. And to think her storm has subsided is a huge mistake. She continues to shift the atmosphere with her fierce style, get-it-done tenacity and creative flair. Jameka served as the Co-Founder and former Executive Creative Director for SOTAC (State of the Arts & Culture) Magazine (now SOTACi) until her entrepreneurial flame was lit in 2007; and she decided to concentrate on nurturing her enterprise- JSW Media Group; a boutique public relations, marketing and brand management firm focused on the entertainment, fashion and publishing fields. In addition to owning JSW Media Group and serving as CEO, Jameka played an integral role as a founding member and former COO for Amped 4-A-Cure, Inc., a non-profit organization that supports cancer research through music. Her most important philanthropic project to date is serving as a Red Pump Ambassador for The Red Pump Project™, a national nonprofit that raises awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls. In 2013, Jameka was hired to lead the communications and marketing efforts of independent label NuVybe Records serving the company as Executive Vice President, reporting directly to CEO, music industry veteran Herb Middleton. When not juggling the demands of entrepreneurship, Jameka wears the hat of a seasoned speaker/spokesperson for various commercial, editorial, event hosting and television/video assignments. She holds a bachelor’s in Communication Studies with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University and a master’s in Organizational Management from University of Phoenix.  She is committed to philanthropic causes and esteems the idea of making a difference in the lives of others. 00:59:00Lets Talk Shop with AdriannoHIV,AIDS,Public Relations,Publicist,NorthwesternMany people talk about leaving their mark on the entertainment industry only to find space is limited. Patrice always had an eye for all things creative - whether it be plating a dish, decorating a home or graphic design. She worked at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for 13 years and initially began doing graphic design as an extension of her work there - producing marketing materials for training sessions, etc. She was soon approached by a co-worker who suggested she consider doing graphic design as a business. After giving it some thought, Patrice gave it a try on a part time basis. Later, she went on to open the business full time, after leaving the school system as a process manager in the Superintendent's office in 2005. 01:00:00Lets Talk Shop with AdriannoBranding,Websites,Consulting,Graphic Design,AdvertisingPatrice Johnson is the owner/principal of Virtual Illustrations, a design consultancy located in Charlotte NC. For the last 14 years, Patrice has used the powerHolistic Nail Care Owner Twila Adams Talks Life, Sports and Goalshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/letstalkshop/2015/03/19/holistic-nail-care-owner-twila-adams-talks-life-sports-and-goalsEntrepreneurhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/letstalkshop/2015/03/19/holistic-nail-care-owner-twila-adams-talks-life-sports-and-goals/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/letstalkshop/2015/03/19/holistic-nail-care-owner-twila-adams-talks-life-sports-and-goalsThu, 19 Mar 2015 23:00:00 GMTHolistic Nail Care Owner Twila Adams Talks Life, Sports and GoalsABOUT Twila Adams: Providing Mobile Nail Care services since 1991 Licensed Onyxologist and Instructor since 1993 Certified Reiki Practitioner since 2005 As a child I enjoyed learning about finger nails and toe nails. As he grew to develop an even greater hunger for learning and understanding the ways of God he was later led to pursue further study and training under the leadership of Pastor Emory Moss at Strictly Biblical Bible Teaching Ministry. Later in 2005 he was officially ordained by Pastor Christopher Brooks at Evangel Ministries as Director of the Family and the Master’s Men ministry. A ministry set on restoring and reviving the blue print and role of men in the family. As he grew closer to God, he was empowered and inspired to minister to families in a greater way so: he created the family curriculum titled God’s Prosperous Familyfinished his second book titled “The Pains & Joys of Raising Boys"and launched his family ministry- Back-2-The Family Ministries whose mission is: Saving Families and Getting Families Saved. He is a faithfully dedicated husband and father, a good steward to his church as well as the people of God he serves. As he continues the fight for restoration and renewal in families, he believes with a passion: The strength and weakness of any organization, be it corporation, community, church or country is directly related to the strengths and weaknesses of the families that belong to it. So as God leads him he’ll continue his mission of Saving Families and Getting Families Saved! 01:00:00Lets Talk Shop with AdriannoSave Our Sons,Ministry,Family,Single Moms,Single ParentsMinister Carlos Johnson initially answered his call to ministry in 1991 by working with the youth at Oak Grove AME Church under the guidance and training of BisFundraising, Non Profit Management and Consultinghttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/letstalkshop/2015/02/13/fundraising-non-profit-management-and-consultingEntrepreneurhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/letstalkshop/2015/02/13/fundraising-non-profit-management-and-consulting/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/letstalkshop/2015/02/13/fundraising-non-profit-management-and-consultingFri, 13 Feb 2015 00:00:00 GMTFundraising, Non Profit Management and ConsultingJoin me as I speak with LaPronda Spain of LAIN Consulting, LLC.
