The alleged progressive Massachusetts lags many states that already have basic civil rights protections for their transgender citizens. Sure, some cities like Boston do, as does the commonwealth for its employees. As unbelievable as it may seem, plain folk do not here. Kara Suffredini, head of MassEquality, and Gunner Scott, her counterpart at the MA Transgender Political Coalition, talk to us about the current battle for a rights bill. H.502/S.764 would offer similar protections as other states have. The anti-LGBT folk are using fear campaigns to paint this as "the bathroom bill" that would encourage sexual predators. It's a big lie up against a bucket full of protections.
