Will we stand up for Jesus? There is a story of a twelve-year-old girl named Valya Vaschenko from Russia. She was asked by law to take an oath to “become a member of the Communist children’s group known as Pioneers.” She was a Christian. When she refused to do as she was asked, the director of her school and several other young girls were prepared to do it for her; force her to become a member. But as they read the oath and were about to put the scarf on her, she suddenly started praying to God out loud and began to sing a hymn, “We will stand firm for the gospel faith, for Christ, following His example, forward all, forward after Him.” Children like Valya, were usually heavily punished for praying and witnessing in their school. She chose to stand up for Jesus despite the consequences. In your opinion, what does it mean to stand up for Jesus ? Providing new details of the events that transpired early Monday in Pakistan, Carney said U.S. Navy SEALs went floor-to-floor clearing the three-story compound where bin Laden's family lived along with others. Three people were killed on the first floor, including a woman, Carney said.   U.S. forces then moved upstairs where they found bin Laden in a room with a woman believed to be his wife -- both unarmed, Carney said. She rushed the U.S. forces and was shot in the leg but not killed. Bin Laden resisted and was shot and killed, Carney said.   On Monday, President Barack Obama's top counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan, said bin Laden was resisting and had a weapon, though he added that it was unclear whether bin Laden had fired a shot. Asked Tuesday why the decision was made to shoot and kill bin Laden if he was not armed, Carney said that "he resisted." He did not explain how bin Laden resisted.   Materials taken from the compound included 10 hard drives, five computers and more than 100 storage devices, a senior U.S. official told CNN Tuesday. Among the storage devices are disks, DVDs and thumb drives, the source said.   .02:45:00kenyadiasporaradionoTERROR,OSAMA,OBAMA,DEAD,KENYAAbbottabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Osama bin Laden was not armed but did put up resistance when U.S. forces entered the compound he was in, then killed him, WhitBreaking News - Osama is Dead !http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kenyadiasporaradio/2011/05/03/the-iko-nini-show-w-mwalimu-tsihugwa--osama-is-deadCurrent Eventshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kenyadiasporaradio/2011/05/03/the-iko-nini-show-w-mwalimu-tsihugwa--osama-is-dead/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kenyadiasporaradio/2011/05/03/the-iko-nini-show-w-mwalimu-tsihugwa--osama-is-deadTue, 03 May 2011 02:00:00 GMTBreaking News - Osama is Dead ! TODAYS HEADLINES: WASHINGTON - Osama bin Laden, the face of global terrorism and architect of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, was killed in a firefight with elite American forces Monday, then quickly buried at sea in a stunning finale to a furtive decade on the run.   Long believed to be hiding in caves, bin Laden was tracked down in a costly, custom-built hideout not far from a Pakistani military academy.   "Justice has been done," President Barack Obama said in a dramatic announcement at the White House while a crowd cheered outside and hundreds more gathered at ground zero in Manhattan to celebrate the news.   The military operation took mere minutes. U.S. helicopters ferrying elite counter-terrorism troops into the compound identified by the CIA as bin Laden's hideout -- and back out again in less than 40 minutes. Bin Laden was shot in the head, officials said, after he and his bodyguards resisted the assault.   Three adult males were also killed in the raid, including one of bin Laden's sons, whom officials did not name. One of bin Laden's sons, Hamza, is a senior member of al Qaeda. U.S. officials also said one woman was killed when she was used as a shield by a male combatant, and two other women were injured.   Your take: +1.323.927.293002:21:00kenyadiasporaradionoTERROR,POLITICS,ISLAM,EXTREMISM,PEACETODAYS HEADLINES: WASHINGTON - Osama bin Laden, the face of global terrorism and architect of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, was killed in a firefight with elitSunday May 1 - Are you 'Lukewarm' Christian or Not ???http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kenyadiasporaradio/2011/05/02/sunday-may-1--are-you-lukewarm-christian-or-notPoliticshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kenyadiasporaradio/2011/05/02/sunday-may-1--are-you-lukewarm-christian-or-not/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kenyadiasporaradio/2011/05/02/sunday-may-1--are-you-lukewarm-christian-or-notMon, 02 May 2011 02:30:00 GMTSunday May 1 - Are you 'Lukewarm' Christian or Not ??? A Sunday Christian or Sunday morning Christian (also Once-a-weeker) is a derisive term used to refer to someone who typically goes to church on Sundays but does not strictly adhere to the doctrines or rules of the religion otherwise. The term is most often used by some Christians to deride someone whom they feel is lukewarm in the Christian faith. From their perspective, a "Sunday Christian" is attempting to cheat God by taking only those parts of the religion which are appealing or convenient without having to commit to anything. They believe the "Sunday Christian" is attempting to buy his/her way into heaven with a minimal amount of effort. . Other factors: actions, attitudes and good will rather than dogma. The person might also be simply paying lip service, attending church for familial or reputational purposes while otherwise not carrying the beliefs of the church as their own. . The term may also be used to describe people who apply double-standards to non-Christians, such as a person who justifies their political beliefs through the Bible but only attends church so that their hypocrisies are not noticed. This also ties into the idea of lip service. . So, if you are a christian, what are you exactly ? 100% Committed or the "Luke Warm" half-baked type.  . We want to know ! But perhaps we can start by seeing what various words for worship mean. The English word "worship" comes from two Old English words: weorth, which means "worth," and scipe or ship, which means something like shape or "quality." We can see the Old English word -ship in modern words like friendship and sportsmanship – that’s the quality of being a friend, or the quality of being a good sport. So worth-ship is the quality of having worth or of being worthy. When we worship, we are saying that God has worth, that he is worthy. Worship means to declare worth, to attribute worth. Or to put it in biblical terms, we praise God. We speak, or sing, about how good and powerful God is. This is a purpose for which we are called: "You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light" (1 Peter 2:9). We were called for the purpose of praising God, worshiping God. That is one of the job descriptions of a Christian. We should declare that God is worthy, worth more than everything else put together. Now let’s look at the biblical words. In both Hebrew and Greek, there are two major kinds of words for worship. The first kind means to bow down, to kneel, to put one’s face down as an act of respect and submission. Our body language is saying, I will do whatever you want me to. I am ready to listen to your instructions and I am willing to obey. The other kind of biblical word means to serve. Roughly half of the time these words are translated as worship, and the other half as serve. It carries the idea of doing something for God — making a sacrifice or carrying out his instructions. Prayer is the practice of the presence of God.  It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made.  Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God.  Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian.  Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope.  Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through the Son of God, Jesus our Lord.   The Bible speaks much of prayer.  But, sometimes, too often, we ignore prayer and seek to accomplish in the strength of our own wills those things that we desire to have or happen.  For those of us who are too often guilty of this, we need to bow our knees, confess our sin, receive God's forgiveness, and beg that the will of the Lord be done above our own.  God is sovereign and loving and He knows what is best for us and others, even if it doesn't always seem to make the most sense.   We so often come to the Lord with legitimate requests for healing, conversions, and needs and yet the answers we hope for often do not come.  We wonder and sometimes doubt.  Yet, we persevere and praise God.  We pray because we know that God hears us and because we desire to see results.  We should pray by faith, trusting God.  We should pray consistently, trusting God.  We should pray for healing, trusting God.  We should pray for others, trusting God.  We should pray and when our prayers are answered or are not answered remember this:  If we knew what the Lord knew, we wouldn't change a thing. Opposition leader Raila Odinga and his supporters rejected the declared victory of incumbent Mwai Kibaki, alleging it was the result of rampant rigging. Protests degenerated into widespread violence as decades of economic frustration and ethnic rivalry spiraled out of control. In the days immediately after the results were announced, gangs of youths blocked Kenya’s main roads and set fire to hundreds of homes of perceived ‘outsiders’. In all, more than 1,200 people were killed and some 350,000 to 800,000 displaced into temporary camps, with an equal number seeking refuge with friends or relatives. Agricultural activity was seriously hampered as farmers moved away from their fields, posing long-terms risks for the country’s food security – already threatened by drought and soaring fertiliser prices. The education and health sectors were also compromised by the large-scale displacement of professionals. . One man, Prof. Fulbert Namwamba lived through the crisis and saw, felt and witnessed first hand, the impact and the deadly scenario that wracked the Kenyan landscape. His description of the chaos that followed by disputed election brings you face to face with with reality; the reality of a crisis, tribalism, revenge, hate and pent-up emotion. Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission spokesman Nicholas Simani said the former chief executive of Tanathi Water Services Board Joseph Nzesya would be charged together with two former district water officers in charge of Kibwezi and Kathani. “They will be charged in Embu with abuse of office and conflict of interest,” he said. This is because the crimes in question were committed in the Eastern province headquarters where Tanathi has its head office. Highly placed sources at the State Law Office confirmed that they had forwarded the files back to the KACC recommending that it opens prosecutions against the officers after assessing the evidence presented by Kacc. “We have given them the files to go ahead with prosecutions but I cannot reveal the names of the individuals to be charged because it is premature to do so at this point in time,” said the source. The move follows investigations conducted by the anti-graft body into allegations of corruption, nepotism and abuse of office at the Water Ministry following complaints lodged by Public Works Assistant Minister Mwangi Kiunjuri. Mr Kiunjuri, who served as an assistant minister under Ms Ngilu, had accused her of irregularly influencing the award of contracts for supplies and services to her close relatives. He also accused the Permanent Secretary at the ministry, Mr David Stower, of a conspiracy to cover up corrupt deeds. The Parliamentary Committee on Lands and Natural Resources chaired by Gachoka MP Mutava Musyimi also investigated the allegations and found no evidence linking both Ms Ngilu and Mr Stower to corruption. The police and the State Law Office, the government’s prosecution arm, traded accusations Wednesday over who was responsible for losing the case. Of the witnesses that the prosecution had lined up, 13 could not be found and five died while the case was going on. Those who made it to the court became hostile to the prosecution, according to Chief Public Prosecutor Keriako Tobiko. Both Police Commissioner Matthew Iteere and Mr Tobiko sought to clear their officers from any blame in the case that also saw Mr Joshua Kulei and Mr Sammy Mwaita set free. Nairobi chief magistrate Gilbert Mutembei acquitted the three on Tuesday. They had been charged with fraudulently obtaining Sh272 million from Kenya Pipeline Corporation by selling it plots in Ngong Forest. [KACC Logo] The Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission is expected to make a “big” announcement on Friday. Speaking to the Nation Tuesday, Kacc spokesman Nicholas Simani said the country should wait for the big announcement at a press event. An intense diplomatic effort is under way to find a country where Gadhafi can go, as an international military effort against Gadhafi's forces continues. The spokesman for Uganda's president, Tamale Mirundi, told the AP that Gadhafi would be welcome in Uganda. He said Uganda's policy is to accept asylum seekers, especially because so many Ugandans fled the country during the longtime rule of dictator Idi Amin. "So we have soft spots for asylum seekers. Gadhafi would be allowed to live here if he chooses to do so," Mirundi said. Another possible reason Uganda might accept Gadhafi is that Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni is, like Gadhafi, among the old guard of African leaders. Museveni has been in power for 25 years, though he won re-election in February amid signs that many Ugandans still genuinely support him. Gadhafi has been in power for more than 40 years. "Whatever his faults, is a true nationalist," Museveni said of Gadhafi. "I prefer nationalists to puppets of foreign interests." One complicating factor to Gadhafi's living in Uganda may be the International Criminal Court, whose chief prosecutor has said he will decide by May whether to seek an indictment against Gadhafi. Uganda is a signatory to the statute that created the court. Muslims in Uganda may welcome Gadhafi as well. Muslim leader Hamuza Kaduga noted that Gadhafi paid for a large modern mosque in Kampala and has supported other projects. Uganda currently hosts more than 20,000 refugees from Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea and Rwanda. Is Kenya a Dynasty ? From the looks of it, Kenyan politicians groom their sons and daughters to take over after them. From the Kenyattas to the Mois, from the Wamalwas to the Odingas; Kenyan politicians act as though Kenya has a Consitutional Monarchy. . Hence, just because your father was president, MP or government official, etc. does not mean you automatically become the next president, MP or judge. . Notice that current leaders are getting agigated by the fact that they can see their chances of getting the “promised land” slowly slipping. They seem desperate. . CORRUPTION Isn’t that what has perptuated corruption, impunity and lack of respect for the rule of law. They even speak in ethnic languages in public rallies, like we are all one ethnic group. . Maybe they just want to protect their future after they retire. . NEW LEADERS Are there there other Kenyans with a clear vision for Kenya and with new and better ideas for Kenya. In addition, does Kenyan have individuals who are accountable and transparent and willing to use Kenya’s resources for the benefit of the people, not to enrich themselves ? . REMEMBER Remember When Moi’s proclamed that Uhuru is his prefered successor, it begged the question “Isn’t Kenya not capable of producing competent sons/daughters from different ethnic groups apart from Kikuyu and the Kalenjins? Moi’s reasoning or rather imagination is based on the premise that Kenya need a unifying figure and according to him who is best suited than Kenyatta ? . ACTION Are Kenyans tired of this colonial-style manipulation and demand a change in the status quo. ”Just because my family does not own 1/3 of Kenya, just because I don’t have Shs. 20 Billion stashed away in France; just because I don’t kill any perceived politcal enemies, etc. does not mean I cannot be a leader” – a Kenyan said recently. . Pentagon officials say the US and the UK have fired more than 110 missiles, while French planes struck pro-Gaddafi forces attacking rebel-held Benghazi. Col Gaddafi has vowed retaliation and said he would open arms depots to the people to defend Libya. Cruise missiles hit air-defence sites in the capital, Tripoli, and Misrata. . As March 20, Libyan state TV said 48 people had been killed and 150 wounded in the attacks. There was no independent confirmation of the deaths. A French plane fired the first shots against Libyan government targets at 16:45 GMT on Saturday March 19, destroying a number of military vehicles, according to a military spokesman. UK Prime Minister David Cameron confirmed that British planes are in action over Libya. President Barack Obama, speaking during a visit to Brazil, said the US was taking "limited military action" as part of a "broad coalition". "We cannot stand idly by when a tyrant tells his people there will be no mercy," he said. He repeated that no US ground troops would take part. . After the missile bombardment and the air strikes, Col Gaddafi made a brief speech calling on people to resist. "Civilian and military targets in the air and sea will be liable to serious danger in the Mediterranean," he said. . "Arms depots are now open and the masses are being equipped with all sorts of weapons in defence of Libya's independence, unity and honour," the Libyan leader warned. He called the attacks "a colonialist crusade of aggression. This can lead to open a new crusade war." The BBC's Kevin Connolly, in the rebel-held eastern city of Tobruk, says it is now clear that Col Gaddafi's strategy is to portray the attacks as an act of colonialist aggression and rally enough of the Libyan people behind him to maintain his grip on power. Months later, the decision to active the Rome Statute that Kenya signed, has given birth to debate about the whole saga. . .An estimated 700,000+ people fled their homes during the weeks of violence that followed the announcement of election results and more than 2,000 died. Many are yet to be resettled. "And so....let us get to the bottom of this and avoid more serious clashes in the future" The International Criminal Court has since named six prominent Kenyans and is evaluating the prosecutor's request to charge them. Established by the Rome Statute on 1 July 2002, the ICC has also conducted investigations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Central African Republic, Kenya and Sudan, and issued 13 arrest warrants in eight cases. . Today, aside from the pros and cons of ICC involvement in Kenya, we want to see whether the selection of the 6 has any relationship to the ethnic divide in Kenya. All for and against, must give irrefutable evidence and argue their points well, or, possibly, face the Hague themselves !!! or should we set up a local tribunal ???? . Fabric ?Wikipedia defines "Tribalism" in the following manner: "The social structure of a tribe can vary greatly from case to case, but, due to the small size of tribes, it is always a relatively simple role structure, with few (if any) significant social distinctions between individuals. The other concept to which the word tribalism frequently refers is the possession of a strong cultural or ethnic identity that separates one member of a group from the members of another group. This phenomenon is related to the concept of tribal society in that it is a precondition for members of a tribe to possess a strong feeling of identity for a true tribal society to form. The distinction between these two definitions for tribalism is an important one because, while tribal society no longer strictly exists in the western world, tribalism, by this second definition, is arguably undiminished. People have postulated that the human brain is hard-wired towards tribalism due to its evolutionary advantages." In Kenya, "Tribalism" has taken on a much wider impact and has shaped the country's social, economic and political status quo. Could this stratification, however, have wrecked havoc on Kenya's future ? Has the so called "evolutionary advantage" been taken too far. Call +1-712-432-0900 to join the debate. PNU: challenges the ICC jurisdiction to handle the cases and still wants deferral. ODM: Mixes responses and termed their press brief as “partial” expression of views by two ministers. Instead, ODM said it will hold its National Executive Council next Thursday to discuss the ICC process and whether three of those summoned should quit their public offices. It will also deliberate on its “position” in the coalition government. Secretary-general Anyang’ Nyong’o said: “Two Cabinet ministers spoke and I do not see that as any official position of government. I take it as their partial expression of views, which ODM does not support.” Addressing journalists at Orange House, Prof Nyong’o added that the government should have convened a Cabinet meeting to come out with a shared position on the summonses. He said Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka, who is leading second phase of shuttle diplomacy to lobby for deferral of the ICC cases on Kenya should return to the country. “Three UN Security Council permanent members have said they would not support the plans. His (Mr Musyoka’s) mission looks unpopular,” Prof Nyong’o said. On Thursday, eight PNU MPs led by Cabinet ministers Kiraitu Murungi and Beth Mugo accused the US Government, which is against deferral of ICC cases of double standards. Secretary-general Kiraitu Murungi questioned why Washington was keen to have the Ocampo Six tried at the ICC “yet a few years ago, they exerted pressure on Kenya to sign an agreement to protect Americans who might be wanted by the court.” Today, we look at the implications of the failed "Shuttle Diplomacy" assisted by ICC Approved and Nairobi-based Attorney, Mr. Arthur Igeria. So did Germany, Chile and Liberia. Even Pakistan, where women in some regions are forbidden to leave their homes without a male escort, is among the 42 countries that have had at least one woman as president or prime minister over the last half century. - Kenya is at a cross-roads, there is a New Constitution, there is a New Wave, a New Generation, and this wave may be the catalyst that will create room for a woman president. - Do you think Kenya will see a female president in the near future? Or do you remain a skeptic. In theory, everybody is ready to vote for a woman for president and break the glass ceiling. But when it comes to actual candidates and actually electing women, there could be a long road ahead. For 2012, there are women positioning themselves to run, and we shall see how it goes, but we, as Kenyans, will make that decision. For now, the answer is not so clear. Its use to refer to political change dates from the scientific revolution occasioned by Copernicus' Revolutions have occurred through human history and vary widely in terms of methods, duration, and motivating ideology. Their results include major changes in culture, economy, and socio-political institutions. Scholarly debates about what does and does not constitute a revolution center around several issues. Early studies of revolutions primarily analyzed events in European history from a psychological perspective, but more modern examinations include global events and incorporate perspectives from several social sciences, including sociology and political science. This trend is very disturbing. Recently, according to the Gazette.net, a Maryland Community news website, Aggrey Mulo Naya, 46, hit his wife, Magdalene Syomba Naya, 36, in the head with a hammer and then stabbed himself to death in their apartment in the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle, Montgomery Village. Police believe Aggrey Naya was trying to kill his wife, county police spokeswoman Lucille Baur said. She escaped and ran outside the apartment. Officers arrived about 11 p.m., after receiving a call about a domestic dispute, and found Magdalene Naya suffering from severe trauma to the head. Police do not yet know who made the call, Baur said. Magdalene Naya was taken to a local hospital. She remains in critical condition, but is expected to survive, police said Wednesday. Police found Aggrey Naya in a bedroom. He had self-inflicted stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy ruled the manner of death as suicide and the cause of death stab wounds. Police are not saying what Naya stabbed himself with, Baur said. The couple's two daughters, age 15 and 10, were asleep in the apartment when the attack occurred. They were not injured and are now being cared for by family friends. Police do not yet know the reason for the fight, the time the couple began fighting, or if there were witnesses, Baur said. The county's 6th district homicide team is investigating. source: Gazette Join the discussion via telephone: +1.323.927.2930. His background, his failures and successes, etc.Hon. S. Amos Wako (born 31 July 1946) has been the Attorney General of Kenya since May 1991. Wako was born in Kenya. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics at the University of London, a Bachelor of Laws at the University College of Dar-es-Salaam, and a Master of Laws at the University of London. He served in several professional organizations, including holding the position of Secretary General of the African Bar Association from 1978 to 1980, and as the first secretary general of the Inter-African Union of Lawyers. He is a member of the Faculty Board of Law at the University of Nairobi. He kept his position as Attorney General through the transition from Daniel arap Moi to Mwai Kibaki. He is dealing with the Goldenberg scandal, a long-running corruption scandal that has lasted his entire time as Attorney General. In October 2009 he was given a travel ban by the USA for 'deliberately blocking political reforms' following post-poll violence in 2008. What can you say are Mr. Wako's failures and successes? Why did the Goldenberg scandal end up in a dead end ? What do Kenyans expect of an Attorney General ? Who is like to be a good replacement? This constitutional crisis and may be the beginning of the end in respect of the implementation of the reform agenda if not corrected and reversed. To further complicate the matter, President Kibaki rejected the Speaker of the House' - Kenneth Marende's ruling saying that that he will await the decision of the Constitutional Court. The President said he acted "within my constitutional mandate" in nominating the four individuals to the four justice and budget jobs. He said that the spirit of separation of powers among the three arms of government "on this important constitutional issue ought to have been respected". "The interpretation of the Constitution ought to have been left to the Judiciary," President Kibaki said. "In my actions as your President, I have at all times acted in accordance with the Constitution and the Laws of Kenya." He said the two House Committee on Justice and Finance had found that the nominations were constitutional. "None of the these two Parliamentary Committees returned a verdict that myself and the Prime Minister had acted unconstitutionality in relation to the nominations," he said. Let us hear your thoughts and some solutions to this and other issues that keep coming up. Phone: 323.927.2930 Skype: "kenyadiasporaradio." Mr Otieno arrived at the Kacc offices at 7 am after anti graft officials failed to trace him on Wednesday. He was questioned for more than three hours before he was taken to court to face the charges. Kacc communications officer Nicholas Simani said Mr Otieno was being sought to face the charges of awarding a contract to manage truck parking services in the municipality to a Company called Summit Cove Line. Mr Simani alleged that the company was single sourced by senior council officials to provide the services. “In March 2010, KACC received information from the general public that Mombasa council has awarded the said company a tender and investigations commenced immediately and in January this year, the Attorney General recommended the charges against the senior council official for flouting procurement procedures,” said Mr Simani. Mr Simani said Kacc was not opposed to the project meant to decongest the town but the manner of awarding the tender was irregular. “The council should have considered advertising the tender for fair competition to other companies. Our investigation has established that the company set their own rates as opposed to those gazetted by the Municipal Council,” said Mr Simani. He said most of the cases being investigated by Kacc against public institutions in Mombasa tend to feature non- compliance and failure to adhere to procurement procedures by directors and senior officials. A local daily has established that the company charges Sh3,000 for clamping services compared to the Sh1,000 normal price. Sourec: Nation Newspaper. Is the public being taken seriously now ? And that is how Kenya ended up pacing the corridors of the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague. However, a three-year-long blame game and political trapeze involving politicians whose hopes for high office were ranged against one another in the 2007 General Election remain bitter adversaries, unable to agree on just about any matter. So one school of thought is dissatisfied with the decision to try Kenyans at The Hague, arguing this would amount to surrendering national sovereignty and be mistaken for being a failed state. This group is seeking deferral of the ICC hearings for 12 months as structures are erected for a local tribunal. Ferrying envoys Their opponents see Kenya as being a paying member of the international community and should be beholden to any and all conventions it is party to. Right or wrong, each has compelling arguments to justify their stand. However, the case for deferral seems to have hit a dead end when UN Security Council members, the US and Britain, indicated they would veto the rquest. In the interests of the tax payer, wouldn’t it be prudent to stop seeking deferral and use the funds being sunk into ‘shuttle diplomacy’ and ferrying Kenya’s envoys home for ‘consultation’ to better use? For a country that is rich in in culture and civilization, it has been shaped out by talented, ambitious, and hard-working people from around the world, but on the other hand, illegal and disruptive elements have endangered the national security. The question is, why can't Kenyans develop their own nation using the talented, ambitious, and hard-working populace that now contributes to the welfare of other countries. A litre of Super Petrol in Nairobi will now retail at Sh98 while in Nakuru, a litre of the same will sell at Sh99 and at Sh100 in Eldoret for the next 30 days. Diesel will sell at Sh91.72 per liter in Nairobi while the ERC has set the price for the commodity in Nakuru, Kisumu and Eldoret at Sh92.78, Sh93.92 and Sh93.87 respectively. According to ERC Director General Kaburu Mwirichia, the latest increase accounts for an overall increase of between Sh0.94 and Sh3 per litre for the products under review from the prices set by the Commission last month after taking into account all prudently incurred cost inputs by oil marketers. "When the impacts of the above changes are incorporated in the formula for calculating the maximum retail pump prices the overall effect is an increase of between Sh0.94 and Sh3per litre, for the products under review, from the prices published last month," said in a statement to newsrooms. He said among the issues that have impacted on the international oil prices include the political instability being experienced in North Africa and as a result, pricing of the free on board price for Murban crude oil lifted in January 2011 went up by four per cent. The Energy ministry in December last year gazetted regulations developed by the Commission for capping the maximum pump prices after incorporating all prudently incurred cost inputs. The Commission is under the regulations mandated to review pump prices for petroleum products on a monthly basis based on a formula that incorporates all costs and factors affecting the oil industry in the country.
