Jazz saxman and vocalist Walter Beasley has sold close to one million records over the last two decades while teaching full-time at Berklee College of Music. His recent single, "Steady as She Goes," was named Billboard's 2009 Smooth Jazz Song of the Year. He talks with former student Justin Kantor about his new CD, Live: In the Groove, and sheds light on his surprising musical beginnings, his thoughts on American Idol, and what music is in need of today.
