Sean Coleman is back in the latest thriller from John A. Daly, set in the mountains of Winston, Colorado. Six months after the murder of his uncle, Sean is trying to get his life together. He’s stopped drinking, he’s taking better care of himself, and he’s working hard to keep a fledgling security business afloat. At a blood plasma bank Sean frequents to earn extra income, he meets the distraught relative of Andrew Carson, a man who went missing weeks earlier on the other side of the state, with a pool of blood in the snowy driveway of his home as the only clue to the man’s fate. Sean decides to help in the search for Carson and quickly finds himself immersed in a world of deception, desperation, and danger—a world in which nothing is what it seems, and few can get out of with their lives. A lifelong Coloradoan, John graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1996 with a degree in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems. He spent the next fifteen years developing accounting software and Internet-based, workflow collaboration solutions. He currently writes political, cultural, and media-analysis columns for the website of Bernard Goldberg, former CBS News journalist and New York Times bestselling author. John felt compelled to take his writing to the next level after watching a television interview with former NFL football player, Tim Green. Inspired by Green’s career transition from a professional athlete to an accomplished author, John found the motivation to begin work on his first novel, “From a Dead Sleep”. John lives in Greeley, Colorado with his wife and two children. 00:33:00JOYRadio with PattieWelekHallnocolorado, author, thriller, novels, blood tradeJohn Daly, Colorado author fo the Sean Coleman thriller novels, Blood Trade and From a Dead SleepDavid Brown, Jr., Coach and Author of Letters for Luciahttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2016/01/27/david-brown-jr-coach-and-author-of-letters-for-luciaBookshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2016/01/27/david-brown-jr-coach-and-author-of-letters-for-lucia/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2016/01/27/david-brown-jr-coach-and-author-of-letters-for-luciaWed, 27 Jan 2016 16:00:00 GMTDavid Brown, Jr., Coach and Author of Letters for LuciaJoy Radio invites you to listen to an interview with David Brown, Jr., coach and author of Letters for Lucia: 8 Principles for Navigating Adversity on 1.27.16 at 11 AM, ET.David will be talking about how his personal experience has made him realize that his purpose is to be of service to others and reading one of his endearing and heartfelt letters to his daughter, Lucia.  David Brown Jr. is dedicating his life to helping others learn to love, forgive and heal from difficult situations. She promptly loses the ring, rips the gown, assumes it’s about to rain daggers, and runs away from home to find a 'better' family. What happens next is a summer-long journey around her deceptively sleepy neighborhood, during which Grace Townsend travels on foot and by horseback, rides shotgun in a shiny new Plymouth Belvedere, hunkers in the back of a rattletrap vegetable truck, crawls into a crumbling tunnel, treks out to a fire in the hinterlands, explores the closet of a prom queen, keeps vigil in the bedroom of a molestation victim, and helps tame a killer dog. Those are a few of the reasons Grace will remember the summer of 1956 for the rest of her life, and why adults and older YA readers will love Going on Nine (May, 2014, Familius). Catherine Underhill Fitzpatrick was born, reared, and schooled in St. Louis, the second of six children. A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism, she has been a staff feature writer for daily newspapers in Hannibal, St. Louis, and Milwaukee. Her articles, stories and essays have appeared in newspapers throughout the United States, and in St. Louisan Magazine, Lessons From My Parents (2013, Familius), Ruminate, The Vocabula Review, Prick of the Spindle, Sew News, Fan Story, Yesterday’s Magazette, Reminisce Magazine, All Things Girl,  and in four Outrider Press Black and White anthologies. www.goingonnine.com, www.amatterofhappenstance.com, her debut novel.   00:30:00JOYRadio with PattieWelekHallnonovel,Catherine Underhill Fitzpatrick,St. Louis, authorJoy Radio is honored to be interviewing Catherine Underhill Fitzpatrick at 11 AM, EDT, on May 20th, pub date release of her newest novel, GOING ON NINE: On a sEster Nicholson, author of SOUL RECOVERY-12 Keys to Healing Addictionhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2014/03/28/ester-nicholson-author-of-soul-recovery-12-keys-to-healing-addictionBookshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2014/03/28/ester-nicholson-author-of-soul-recovery-12-keys-to-healing-addiction/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2014/03/28/ester-nicholson-author-of-soul-recovery-12-keys-to-healing-addictionFri, 28 Mar 2014 15:00:00 GMTEster Nicholson, author of SOUL RECOVERY-12 Keys to Healing AddictionOn March 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., EST Joy Radio will be interviewing Ester Nicholson. Dr. Pearl was running a successful chiropractic practice in Los Angeles, when a series of bizarre occurrences led him to realize that his gift lay far beyond the realm of spinal adjustment. One patient after another reported healings from cancers, epilepsy, cerebral palsy and other severe health conditions, simply when Dr. Pearl held his hands near them. Seeking to understand what was happening, Dr. Pearl consulted with leaders in science, medicine, and spirituality – discovering they did not have the answers either.  Supported by researchers affiliated with institutions such as Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, Dr. Pearl went on to pioneer studies on the healing frequencies running through him and their affects on people – which he came to term “Reconnective Healing ® ” – a comprehensive healing approach, which completely transcends “energy healing” and it’s complex rituals and techniques. Over time, Dr. Pearl also learned how to teach others to access these frequencies and, as such, to promptly and successfully facilitate healings for themselves and others. To date, 75,000 people around the world have been trained in Reconnective Healing ® . www.thereconnection.com00:37:00JOYRadio with PattieWelekHallnohealing, bestselling book,NY Times, reconnection founder, healthJoin Joy Radio on May 8, 11 am ET, with Dr. Eric Pearl, The Reconnection® founder. Johnson approached North Korea as inspiration for short storias about the comic opera sort of life led by the "Dear Leader." Then became fascinated by all of the people of North Korea, both the oppressors and the oppressed, of this ultimate closed society and the need to tell the stories of a people who could neither write nor tell their story. After six years of difficult research, the book was born. The Orphan Master's Son was published a month after the December death of longtime dictator, Kim Jong ll, an event that heightened interest in the book. Lori will begin the show by reading an excerpt from her book. Here's how Deadline Hollywood describes the book: THE LIFE LIST tells the story of a young woman who embarks on "a year-long journey of self-discovery after her mother passes away and leaves her an inheritance with one big stipulation--in order to receive it she must complete the items on the 'life list" of glas she made for herself when she was 14. Although apprehensive at the beginning, she takes on this challenge in a "bewildering and comedic journey through her adolescent dreams" which leave her "surprised to find the life, and the self, she'd lost along the way." Lori Nelson Spielman lives in East Lansing, Michigan, with her husband and a vry spoiled K.C. (Kitty Cat). A former speech pathologist and guidance counselor, she currently works as a homebound teacher for inner-city students. Lori enjoys running, traveling, and reading, though writing is her passion. She spends her winters cursing the god-awful Michigan winters, and her summers sailing the glorious shores of Lake Michigan. www.lorinelsonspielman.com       00:31:00JOYRadio with PattieWelekHallnolife, list, book, jouney, motherJoin Joy Radio and listen to an interview with Lori Nelson Spielman, debut novelist of  THE LIFE LIST to be published by Ballantine/Random House, summer 2013.Brenda Lainof, Certified Emotion & Body Code Practitionerhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2012/08/08/brenda-lainof-certified-emotion-body-code-practitionerHealthhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2012/08/08/brenda-lainof-certified-emotion-body-code-practitioner/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2012/08/08/brenda-lainof-certified-emotion-body-code-practitionerWed, 08 Aug 2012 15:00:00 GMTBrenda Lainof, Certified Emotion & Body Code Practitioner This is your opportunity to experience a healing session!! That childhood fascination with nature, gardening, and everything outdoors led to her career path as an environmental educator, author, and CEO of NatureTalks. Colleen founded NatureTalks with a simple, single mission: to help people connect to nature. Her special style of educating is as a storyteller for gardens and gardeners. Dr. Carroll has over 20 years of experience in urban forestry and environmental education, a masters in social ecology and a doctorate in environmental education. Her research is focused on generating practical materials for teachers, urban foresters, and the community. She works with community gardens, school garden programs and urban and community forestry projects, enhancing education, program success and community outreach. Several years ago, in order to study the benefits of greening Dr. Carroll traveled to Baltimore, the South Bronx, Tucson, and Chicago to learn on-site from neighborhood activists. These stories, captured in the book Engaging Uninvolved Audiences in Urban Forestry: It’s About More Than Trees, showcase the individuals who created change in their neighborhoods through greening. Recent projects include writing for the Department of Forestry and Wildlife about current issues in Hawaii’s Urban Forest and presenting the workshop “Children’s Perspectives on the Environment: Gaining Insights” at the Center for Ecoliteracy School Garden Teachers Workshop on the Island of Hawaii. In search of something to believe in once more, Signe Pike left behind a career in Manhattan to undertake a magical journey - literally. In a sweeping tour of Mexico, England, Ireland, Scotland and beyond, she takes readers to dark glens and abandoned forests, ancient sacred sites and local pubs, seeking the people who might still believe in the elusive beings we call faeries. As Pike attempts to connect with the spirit world - and reconnect with her own sense of wonder - she comes to view both herself and the world around her in a profoundly new light. Captivating, full of heart and unabashedly whimsical, Faery Tale is more than a memoir - it's the story of rekindling that spark of belief that makes even the most skeptical among us feel like a child again. Signe Pike worked for Random House and Penguin before leaving New York City to write Faery Tale. The memoir earned a "Best of 2010" nod from Kirkus Reviews in addition to receiving glowing reviews from Harper's Bazaar, Women's Adventure Magazine, and renowned spiritual leader Marianne Williamson. Pike has been featured on National Public Radio's “To the Best of Our Knowledge” along with Salman Rushdie, Neil Gaiman, and A.S. Byatt. She currently works as a freelance editor and writes full time in Charleston, where she is at work on her next exploration into things unseen. Bearing witness to his father’s day-to-day struggles, Louis was quickly motivated to not only embrace a healthy lifestyle, but advocate for early education to combat childhood obesity. Budget cuts, fiscal restraints, and an ever changing economy is hampering student’s overall growth and development as funding for fine arts programs decreases in our public schools.  Limiting creative programs also limits personal expression and may increase inappropriate social behavior as students become bored.   Organizations such as ours increase awareness of music and the arts through individualized instruction, camps, workshops, and outreach programs that are designed especially for “at risk” youth.  Many students are unable to afford private lessons.  It is our calling to create an exceptional learning experience in the musical arts.  Imagine the powerful impact on student’s self esteem as they joyfully learn to make music in a warm and loving environment.    Statistics show that children who study music excel academically.  We are here to do our part to assure that that fact remains true for ALL children; regardless of race, status, or socio-economic condition. www.smallsmusiclab.org (843) 906-9444 00:30:00JOYRadio with PattieWelekHallnomusic, youth, leadership, golf, awarenessPattie Welek Hall interviews Nate & Sherry Smalls, founders of Smalls Institute for Music and Youth Leadership in Charleston, SC. The road to hell was paved by my older psychopathic brother with his evil-minded ways. Before my brother murdered a man, before he was sentenced to life in prison, before his girlfriend accidentally died by falling out of his moving car, before he was incarcerated for mugging old ladies, before he stole our father's car at twelve years of age…before all of this, he was my big brother, someone I trusted. Even though he was a person who threatened to kill my father, raped me, buried me alive, and beat the hell out of my mother and me. And still, I wanted a big brother; I wanted him to love me. How crazy is that?  That is all in the past. Today things are as they should be. My brother is locked away for life and I finally have the answers I have sought my entire life. Answers to why he did the things he did to me. Why my parents were oblivious to his pernicious deeds, and why it took so long to free myself from his manipulative evilness. This memoir is Don's story, the journey, and the answers. It will shock, surprise, illuminate and keep the “fact” checkers checking for days. But in the end, all will know—it is absolutely true. All the unbelievable coincidences and events really did happen. 00:32:00JOYRadio with PattieWelekHallnoevil, love, brother, prison, rapePattie Welek Hall welcomes Don English, author of"Enlightenment of Evil." The story follows her as she moves through life seeking love and redemption. Jacqueline was a successful CPA and international tax lawyer (although she no longer practices). Today, she is a writer, motivational speaker, cultural enthusiast and entrepreneur. Jacqueline moved to the U.S. in 1985 to attend Southern University in Baton Rouge, graduating in 1988 at the age of 19 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. Pattie Welek Hall welcomes Bren McClain, an award-winning writer of fiction, who is hard at work on a novel she says feels part of her life's work.  To quote her website: I've heard it said Write what you know.  Others say Write what you don't know.  I say Write what opens your heart. My heart first opened with Mama Red.  She's written two other novels (they are in the proverbial drawer) but it wasn't until Brenda began writing about what is hers -- and hers alone-- that her writing world unfolded.  Her subject is animals and animal welfare, specifically.  Brenda calls her novel ONE GOOD MAMA BONE, a literary novel, set in the early 1950's in rural upstate South Carolina.  The novel is about the healing power of a mother cow's love to save a fallen woman.  The plot centers around a time-honored rite of passage for many young people even today, the 4-H tradition of "feeding out" a steer for the chance at Grand Champion.  Among her awards, she was named the 2004 Fiction Fellow by the South Carolina Arts Commission, is a two-time winner of the South Carolina Fiction Project and has just recently been named a Finalist in the Novel-in-Progress Category in the esteemed William Faulkner Writing Competition.   While she views writing as what makes her life, she's fortunate enough to make a living with her second love, teaching message development and delivery skills to people all across the country.  It's her own business, McClain Communications, which she formed in 1990.  Brenda is one lucky woman!   00:31:00JOYRadio with PattieWelekHallnoanimal welfare, quote, writer, business, heartPattie Welek Hall welcomes Bren McClain, an award-winning writer of fiction, who is hard at work on a novel she says feels part of her life's work.  To quote hJulia Schopick, author "Honest Medicine"http://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2011/07/29/julia-schopick-author-honest-medicineHealthhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2011/07/29/julia-schopick-author-honest-medicine/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/joyradio/2011/07/29/julia-schopick-author-honest-medicineFri, 29 Jul 2011 15:00:00 GMTJulia Schopick, author "Honest Medicine" Pattie Welek Hall welcomes Julia Schopick, best-selling author and dynamic speaker who presents before patients, parenting groups and innovative doctors who want to become informed and empowered to make the best health choices for themselves, their patients and loved ones.
