You had senority. You enjoyed the status of the job. Now you are jobless and this is now an employers market. You could or could not be worth all you earned in the past, but the past is the past. Expecting the same job title, salary, and statues in a new job could be what's hurting your opportunity for employment. When you go in expecting the world and you are offered a cubical it's understandable you may be disappointed. But this could be a company that will provide you with the things you desire in time, based on your performance. It could be this is the kind of company that invest in the workers rather than in the work environment itself. Review what you expect in a job. Decide what is and is not negotiable. Remember job expectations could be unreasonable in this employer's market and this could cause a longer job search, and limitied opportunities. The one thing that's true for you and everyone seeking work.  The longer you search, the longer you are out of the job market, the more outdated your skills and your work history becomes, and the more you are assuring yourself you likely will not reach the life goals you set for yourself. Keep a work plan going. Change expectations as needed as you continue to advance your work life. 00:16:00Job Search WorkshopnoJob availability,Job Duties,Chance for advancement,Work environment, manager's expectationsYour past job title and salary was great. The unemployment rate goes down when people goes to work. Both these options are in the hands of the people. You will get hired not when an employer create a job, but when an employer decide to hire. To get hired you need a resume to match the job you seek. If you seek several different jobs you need several resumes. To get hired, develop a master application. To get hired, network, network, network To get hired, wear appropriate clothing for the job you seek To get hired, make job search your full time job until you convince an employer to hire you, because they like your sales pitch or your wares or your attire or your resume or your ingenious that got you the interview. Increased employment comes about when job seekers prepare, do the work and at the right moment, ask the managers / owners for the job. Expecting to get hired by doing one thing only is like trying to make it to a destination taking only one step, or only knowing one route, or expecting someone to come to your door and guide you their. It could happen but the odds are against you because you are not putting forth your efforts to capitalize on your job desires. Increasing employment in America today is attainable right today. It is up to you, the job seekers decide to make employment reality for yourself. Waiting to see sky writing saying companies have created jobs for you to come and get won't get you a job you desire. When jobs are advertised by employers, employers are seeking the applicant that knows how to sell themselves. Some times the applicant oversells their abilities, but they are the ones who gets the job, even if they didn't workout, they sold themselves. Therefore the issue is for applicants to work at selling self as the perfect employee. 00:26:00Job Search WorkshopnoIncrease employment,Sell yourself,Resume,Master Application,NetworkingThe unemployment rate goes down when people stop looking. For these three areas are either you strengths or your weaknesses. Don't expect to get hired until you are prepared to display strengths that shows you as the right person for the job.  Everyone has strengths and everyone has weaknesses. Identify your skills based on strengths and avoid as many weaknesses a possible. Make a list of weaknesses and strengths. In the areas of strengths, based on the job you desire, communicate your strengths in 1) actions 2)words and 3) written form. Where your strengths are is where you want to job search. Focus on current skills / strengths that frames you as the right person for the job. Some of your weaknesses will come up in an interview. Be prepared with an answer that pivots the conversation back to your strengths.  Everyone has weaknesses. Active job search time is not the time to repair weaknesses. Focus on selling your brand. Even your credentials will come after you sell yourself to the interviewer. Time is never on the side of job searchers. Being jobless amounts to you needing to spend time doing job search, not time involved in repairing weaknesses nor spending time involved in training. The job search goal is to get hired. If you need a job now, then do job search now. If you can get training and won't have financial issues, then by all means take this time to improve your skills. Knowing how to use a computer for job search speeds up the hiring process. A time of police brutality, low wages, not enough jobs, and laws that prevented groups of people from living the American dream.  It was August 28, 1963 when Black and Whites come together in Washington and protested in justice, no jobs, low wages, and yes, lack of health care. Employers could refuse to hire Blacks and there was no law that said that was wrong. Today, now, 50 years later, millions of people are jobless through no fault of their own. People needed jobs which is the reason for the March on Washington. And those marchers knew they could be facing death. But they had the courage to march in the face of the threat of death. They brought change to America. They marched in faith, courage, and love, and our government responded with jobs, raised the minimum wages, and the signs of segregation came down in the south.  I want to ask you today to commemorate anniversary of the 50 anniversary of the March on Washington by setting up a fast and furious job search plan and let's put America back to work. We don't face nearly the harzardous threat as was 50 years ago. If people could risk death for the opportunity of getting jobs  50 years ago, sure today, we can face whatever fears or pride that stands in our way. I want you to plan today to find a job.  I want you to go in person. Mail out resumes. Fill out online applicatoin. Make phone calls to find companies that are hiring, or at least allows you to come in and fill out an application. Advance the dream by making a better life for you and yours now.
