Guest: Audrey Carlson

In 2002, 24 year old Elizabeth Anne Carlson was gunned down by an ex-boyfriend in her own home, her sister, Leslie, managed to escape and call for help.

The aftermath of losing a daughter to violent crime, intimate partner violence, is excrutiating for a close knit family, but they found unique ways to honor her memory and help others, along with receiving their own needed resources to heal.

Joining us for the show is Elizabeth's mother, Audrey Carlson, who is President of the Elizabeth Anne Carlson Memorial Scholarship for the Performing Arts, a foundation that continuously gives to Elizabeth's greatest love, theater and dance. Her passion is embraced by the organization and provides the opportunity to fulfill the dreams of other young talented performers.

Through the years since Elizabeth's murder Audrey Carlson has worked with homicide survivors support groups including the organization of the Sandy Hook Victims Support Group which she hopes will grow in the future.
