My name is Cole Williams and I carry the stories of a generation of boys and girls who are fatherless. I was born and raised in Benton Harbor, MI, to a single mother. I met my biological father for the first time when I was 29 years old.
During my youth and even into my adult years I had always wondered who my father was. I wondered what we might have in common. I wondered what fatherly wisdom he would have shared with me. I had no answers to the things I wondered about.
I became a father at age16, I was determined to be a permanent presence in my son’s life. So that if he ever had questions he wondered about I would be there to answer them. Since I never had a father, it was difficult trying to be the father I never knew. I was a boy raising a boy. I had to learn while on the job of life about how to be a man and a father. My experiences and my struggle fuel’s my passion for working with youth and families across America.
