Patrick Yandall started playing guitar at age eight.  We are not sure if he has fully realized how much of a second skin it is to him - but his success seems to indicate that he SHOULD :)  With more than two handfuls of albums under his belt, here he comes with another: "Ethos."  Intriguing title.  This is what Google says, in a moment of non-partisan definition (Yes, I said that): "The characteristic spirit of a culture, era or community - as manifested in its beliefs or aspirations."

Patrick is deep like that.  It's the reason why his music has been chosen for so many TV and Film projects - two notables: "Fruitvale Station" and "War Inc."  You may not have realized that you were hearing our guest when you tuned into the Weather Channel - or Showtime - or various sports outlets.  His skills on that guitar go way beyond JAZZ - but I cannot stress enough how much he LOVES Jazz.  He can rock out, tone down, go Brazilian native, or Americana acoustic - but the core of who he is: Jazz.  Others love to pigeon-hole him via the adjective that starts with S - but y'all know how this show host feels when it comes to describing someone as "Smooth."  It doesn't necessarily fly on "Hybrid Jazz" - and guests aren't booked on the program because they ARE.  Patrick Yandall is special.  He has paid his dues, he works hard, he is consistently creative and he cares about his audience.

For this visit, we are certainly playing tracks from "Ethos" - but we're also celebrating Grammy consideration.  Yep - that's happening!  And a CD release party in his adopted San Diego - and also where our Friend was raised: Michigan.  We can't forget those Southern roots, either - Patrick was born in North Carolina :)

Let's honor this award-winning, unique artist on 10/27!
