…”If you teach him all about your language, he will know all your secrets, and he is then no more a slave, for you can’t fool him any longer, and BEING A FOOL IS ONE OF THE BASIC INGREDIENTS OF ANY INCIDENTS TO THE MAINTENANCE OF THE SLAVERY SYSTEM.” ~~ Willie Lynch – speech delivered on the bank of the James River in the colony of Virginia in 1712.
Most Blacks have heard of the Willie Lynch Letter/Speech, but many have not read it. Over time, I’ve heard some blacks indicate that they didn’t believe that this letter/speech is authentic. But for the majority of blacks, it is believed to be REAL.
If you’ve read the Willie Lynch Letter, you will find there are specific instruction on the making and maintaining of a slave. Two years after the Emancipation Proclamation in 1865, slavery was considered unlawful and ended. However, the effects of bondage remains; prejudices and racism remain, as we see in recent events in Ferguson, Missouri; and so does the remnants of the Willie Lynch Letter.
On this episode of Hot Topics Talk Radio, we’re going to discuss the Willie Lynch Letter and how it still remains as part of our life, and how it shows up in the lives of Blacks today. We’re going to examine the parallels of when it was written, and how it relates to us today.
