Human trafficing is the illegal trade of human beings for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor and a modern-day form of slavery.

Sexual slavery is when unwilling people are coerced into slavery for sexual exploitation.  Sexual slavery may include single-owner sexual slavery, ritual slavery sometimes associated with certain religious practices, slavery for primarily non-sexual purposes but where non-consensual sex is common, or forced prostitution.

According to the Attorney General's report, an estimated 14,000 people are trafficked into the United States each year. However, because trafficking is illegal, accurate statistics are difficult to compile. It is also reported that 82% of suspected incidents were classified as sex trafficking and nearly half of these involved victims under the age of 18.
