Lil Solar’s Book of Superpowers Teaches Kids to Use Their Superpower to Change the World
Re-Creation Publishing announces author Kinja Dixon’s newest release, Lil Solar’s Book of Superpowers, which shares the personal growth journeys of seven children — one from each continent — as they discover their “superpower” in dreams guided by main character Lil Solar.
Lil Solar, who represents the solar system, visits the dreams of each child taking the form of something meaningful to them—a soccer ball for a young athlete, a mirror for a young model, and a Philippine eagle for an aspiring veterinarian. Lil Solar finds each child wrestling with life choices expressed from their post slumber journal entries—beauty insecurity, fear of disappointing parents, gender equality, interpreting conflict, and more. As it speaks to each child on his or her level in his various forms, it asks them questions to help them understand their challenges, gain perspective, and to see their difficulties as stepping stones—as their new “superpower.
Lil Solar’s Book of Superpowers teaches children they have the power within to change themselves and the world around them — they only need to believe it and take action. Dixon’s storytelling, written in easy to read play form, uses personification as a powerful literary tool to make concepts children find challenging to express easy to comprehend.
