Join host Wes Blackman welcome Lake Worth, Florida resident Paul Gionfriddo talk about the importance of a sound health and mental health policy in the United States.  In the wake of the tragic events just a week ago in Newtown, Connecticut, we are still left with unanswered questions about how to better identify and treat those with mental and emotional disorders that might lead to violent acts.  Does the person suffering from mental illness have to commit a crime in order to receive effective treatment?  Many times it is too late and innocent lives are cut short - and the life of the perpetrator.  Can there be a better ending?  How best can we act as a society to make sure we do all that we can to prevent the violent "acting out" that has become all too common in this nation.  We hope to have a spirited conversation with Mr. Gionfriddo who has a background in public health and as an elected official.
