As spirits having a human experience, we relate mainly with concepts connected to our physical world. As soon as we get here, we're hit with an avalanche of do's and don'ts from society that keeps us encapsulated in a world that prevents us from moving beyond that wall of limitation.
Our spirit is used to soaring, feeling the beauty of freedom, and when we come into physical we find it hard to take limiting concepts that do not allow us to explore that joy, and we're taught early on to just accept what comes along.
