Are you finding any fun in all that holiday family togetherness? We talk with Linda S. Thompson to get tips to help different generations of family members get along during holidays. Our guest is the author of “Every Generation Needs a New Revolution” Linda gives us some insights into how to make the holiday season as fun and stress free as possible including dealing with inlaws, the family outlaws, teens and all of us in-between.

Look all around you at the holidays and from cards to ads to shop windows you’ll see idealized depictions of families sharing meals, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company without a frown in sight. Everyone likes the food, the baby is obviously off somewhere napping, and there weren’t any flight delays on the way to Grandma’s house.

We all know of course that these fictional depictions are just that – stories we tell ourselves to help us feel good. But just because our real holidays aren’t perfect doesn’t mean they aren’t special or fun or meaningful. They just might take a big of…strategy to turn out that way. We might not see the family paying for a hotel room so the baby can have a nap away from the noisy relatives when we look at the happy faces on the front of a Christmas card, but that doesn’t mean it’s not what it takes to ensure familial harmony.
