In educating Justinian I about how to be a Christian Emperor, he granted to his polity an adopted son who had great respect for the Christian Faith, and was a practitioner. A result of this was the Corpus Juris Civilis aka the Justinian Law Codes. IN this Broadcast, we will briefly look at the historical influence of the Roman Eastern Empire on the West, through the concept of Natural Law, and how the West began through its new conceptions, to make laws that  separated itself from Eastern Christian perception of Natual Law and its purposes, and to craft a uniquely Western, rationalized understanding of Natural Law, that paved the way for the secularization of law, and of culture.
