At times, it seems as of that sub-industry is a bigger pool than people who are actually coaching regularly clients. Marketing is a big deal. However, it is possible to do a coaching practice in a way where clients flow, business grows and you thrive by doing stuff you love without having to focus on marketing.  We are going to talk about three ways to set up your coaching practice without having to market.      00:23:00GVCA Coaching Studionocoaching, loa coaching, good vibe coach academy, jeannette maw, lisa hayesAsk almost any coach what they need help with in their practice and they will say, "marketing", but what if you set up your practice from the very beginning tob3325066-c6a5-410f-9e9d-3fdb22a0c4ab11fullTop Five Mistakes Coaches Make in Their Client Sessions, Series #4http://www.blogtalkradio.com/gvca/2014/11/18/top-five-mistakes-coaches-make-in-their-client-sessions-series-4Businesshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/gvca/2014/11/18/top-five-mistakes-coaches-make-in-their-client-sessions-series-4/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/gvca/2014/11/18/top-five-mistakes-coaches-make-in-their-client-sessions-series-4Tue, 18 Nov 2014 20:00:00 GMTTop Five Mistakes Coaches Make in Their Client Sessions, Series #4An agenda, it's a good thing right?   Maybe. We are suppose to shepherd them to their own questions and answers.  A consultant gives advice.  A coach shouldn't.   And that's right most of the time.  However, sometimes coaches will let a client be lost too long.  They will ask all the right questions and the client stays lost, so they start over at the beginning of the list of questions again or make up new ones, still not getting a client to any clarity.  Sometimes clients can't find their own answers and all the right questions in the world won't get them there.  That is frustrating for the coach and it's mind numbing for the client.   Sometimes coaches are so hesitant to give advice that they let clients stay adrift way too long and it often makes a client feel like they are failing.  Today we are going to talk about strategies for telling it like it is rather than letting a client drift and when to do it.    00:28:00GVCA Coaching Studionocoach training, coaching skills, loa coach training, good vibe coach academy, jeannette mawWe know as coaches, we aren't suppose to tell a client what to do.  We are suppose to guide our clients to their own wisdom. Because of that, no two people ever see things exactly the same way, and yet, as coaches, sometimes we assume our clients are experiencing things the way we have or would.  It's call perception bias, and it can be very challenging to manage because most people don't know it's running. When you are in a state of perception bias, (which is almost all the time), it's very difficult to actually listen to a client.  You might hear what they are saying, but you run it through the filter of your own experience, and then... start doing the kind of coaching you need, not necessarily the kind of coaching your client needs.       00:24:00GVCA Coaching Studionocoach training program, loa coach training, how to be a better coach, good vibe coach academy, jeannette mawWe all have a lens.  We see things through our own experiences and with our own bias. While knowing and working with a suite a tools and processes might make you a good coach.  It won't necessarily make you a great coach.   Too much reliance on tools can limit the effectiveness of your coaching, because you can only go as far as your tool or process will take you.  It can also limit the types of clients you can work with. There are some processes that work a lot of the time. However, there is no one sized fits all option for every client, all of the time.  When all a coach has to offer is what's in the tool bag coaches end up doing something we call, "tool tossing".  That means they either try to force a client into a specific process, whether it's a good fit or not, or they keep tossing tools hoping they will find something that lands.   Tool tossing keeps you from actually listening to your client.  It prevents you from being present.  When it doesn't work it creates a lot anxiety for both the coach and the client.     00:22:00GVCA Coaching Studionohow to be a better coach, how to use tools in your coaching practice, coach training, loa coach training, lisa hayesA lot of coaches think the thing they need to be a good coach is a strong set of tools.
