(S5) Life Changers on GD's A Touch of Grace Presents...

Thomas Weatherspoon is an athlete, businessman, poet, writer, spiritual mentor and professional trainer who has spent more than twenty years shaping the futures of world-class athletes by challenging them to reach beyond their pre-conceived potential.

BIO:

Born in Chicago, Weatherspoon grew up in a family strong spiritually, academically and athletically. Mother Berta, a baptist minister, instilled an unwavering faith in God, while father Willie, ex-military, demanded a strong work ethic. The combination proved golden for this talented midwest family. Weatherspoon’s sister Sandy, the youngest and only girl, graduated from Marquette University at the top of her class with degrees in finance and Spanish. Younger brother Kenny holds American and Olympic records in the triple jump, and won the gold in 1996 in Atlanta. Older brother Darryl was All-American wide out and attended West Virginia University on a football scholarship; he turned down the NFL to pursue a degree at Marquette, and now teaches high school English. Thomas was a four-sport a year athlete in high school all three years. He attended Wisconsin to study psychology and communications, participating in basketball and track and field. By his senior year, Weatherspoon was a six-time All-American and double National Champion in the long and triple jumps. After college he pursued his Olympic dreams with Athletes in Action, a Christian-based track club, but after competing at the national and international level for a few years, his focused changed to coaching and training athletes.
