About writing:

Ghetto Plainsman, Jarid Manos’ first book, took eight years to write. Her Blue Watered Streets: An American Novel has been over 5 years in the writing. Manos believes that writers should honor their readers’ time with exacted craft and fully inhabited, conscious writing and that, at its best, American literature can be transformative for social and personal change through an experiential story. Theme-wise, he is particularly interested in the American story of people on the land, whether it is the remnant wild or the urban hidden world. The land becomes a living character itself, and we become part of it. Stories of people’s lives embed in the land like geographic layers as time moves on.
