LIVING WITH PAIN. Our guest, Ross McCreery was diagnosed 5yrs ago with CRPS/RSD {COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME/ REFLEX SYMPATHETIC DYSTROPHY}. This is a multi-system syndrome with diverse symptoms characterized by chronic pain. Usually CRPS/RSD affects one or more extremities but it can affect any part of the body. Due to dilation or constriction of the blood vessels, the blood supply to the limb (hand, foot, hip, shoulder) is affected. The nerves, skin, muscle and bone are also involved. RSD is a debilitating disease which can impair the ability of the limb to function or function can be lost. Simply put, this disease is painful and the outlook at times is bleak to say the least. Ross is choosing to fight for a life without pain and is endeavouring to inspire others to do the same. Through his blog 'http://www.painfullyoptimistic.blogspot.com' he is raising awareness of CRPS/RSD and sharing his story openly and honestly in the hopes of helping others obtain early detection and treatment options. Through his pain he is compelled to help and push boundaries. Sheer determination and passion seem to be his fuel. Ross is a father of 2 gorgeous daughters that he and his lovely wife, Donna {of 17 years}, adopted from China and Ethiopia. His family is young and his strength is needed both physically and spiritually. Ross is standing up and speaking for those who's pain is proving to be to much ~ he truly is PAINFULLY OPTIMISTIC. This is a conversation you are going to want to hear. Inspiring, challenging and possibly life changing.
