Sandy Sieber first became intrigued with her state when teaching own children about its history. Since then she has passionately searched out fascinating stories via the Internet, museums, used bookstores, and historical sites.

Her favorite Pennsylvania place is the Jimmy Stewart Museum. When walking to the museum, she will never forget the experience of hearing Jimmy's voice tell her when to cross the street. Of all the Pennsylvania birds, the quail tops her list. She and her children have raised and released quail into the wild. The Lady Slipper is her most loved Pennsylvania wild flower. She and her husband own a field of Lady Slippers! While writing Phacops Rana, she was thrilled to find the Pennsylvania State Electric Train at the Amtrak train station in Harrisburg, a 45-minute drive from her home.
