Hearing God's word, receiving it, and doing it is how we actually allow God into our lives. Empty claims of spirituallity are useless and...empty.

James calls his audience to listen with care, then to live it with focus. Clearly, God can do more for me than the rich of society. Judgment was about to fall on those rich; how wise was it to cater to them?

Just as clear, a professed faith is lifeless unless it takes action. Wishing a poor man well is impotent unless I also do something that helps him. Faith that doesn't act is no better than faithlessness.

The culmination and climax of the prophets projections made life with God possible. James shows how that translates into day-to-day living.

Though prophetic connection is limited in James; never-the-less it is still there, and walking with God is practical and powerful.
