Coming to the mountain of prophecy and living through the shaking-out process must have been both awesome and challenging. Here was God's eternal plan unfolding before their eyes—history in the making, as it were. But it was rightly called "the great tribulation," both by Daniel and again by Jesus. Their trust in God would be tested clear to the bone: "He who endures to the end shall be saved," "resist to the shedding of blood," and "loved not theirs live unto death." It took a lot of shaking to clear away the chaff!
So, God provided simple, practical safeguards to help them meet the challenge. And those self-same safeguards continue to protect God's family as they follow their leaders, who follow the Great Shepherd.
Safeguards and realities highlight HW's content in chapter 13. They will be our focus, too.
