Host Tom Merrill speaks with retired Chief of the FDNY Thomas Richardson. Not only did Chief Richardson enjoy an incredible 41-year career in the FDNY, reaching the highest uniformed rank possible as Chief of Department, but he is also a longtime volunteer firefighter and former chief and current commissioner in his hometown volunteer department. He is a passionate firefighter who cares deeply about all firefighters as well as the fire service. Listen in as the chief talks about his fire service journey and all the legends he has worked with through the years. The chief will share many nuggets of wisdom based upon his experiences on both the paid and volunteer side, and he will talk about what it means to be a true professional firefighter...paycheck or not.
