In 2010, Frank McFarland “Mac” Knowles had two massive heart attacks and underwent a quadruple bypass.  The operation was successful, but the strict dietary guidelines he was then given to follow were a challenge.  He was craving baked goods that didn’t taste like cardboard, so Mo went to work and developed a delicious treat that was all natural, low sodium, low fat, low cholesterol, no added sugar, and more fiber.  After mixing many batches, her dad proclaimed them “morselicious!” Mo knew that if her dad had trouble finding good treats with his dietary restrictions, that others did too.  So, what started as a caring gesture for her father has turned into Mac-N-Mo’s, a small artisan food business making delicious morsels.  To learn more about Mac-n-Mo's Morselicious Treats visit: http://fooducopia.com This show is hosted by Dr. Daisy Sutherland, founder/ceo of Dr. Mommy Online..learn more here: http://DrMommyOnline.com 00:31:00FamilyTalknoDr Daisy Sutherland,Family Talk Radio,Maura Knowles,Morselicious,FooducopiaToday on Family Talk Radio our special guest is Maura (Mo) Knowles.   Actress Maura "Mo" Knowles turned her care for her father into a business. Retire To - Not From came from the realization that retirement should be a springboard for the rest of your legacy instead of a rest. Some people have to stop working their job because it's mandatory, some have to because they are fully vested into a company and they have agreed to stop working at 65 or they take an early retirement. All of this is fine except most people do not plan what they will do after they retire. Retire To - Not From encourages everyone to rethink what retirement should be and can be. Our guest today Lindy Clark shares with us her struggles and how she was able to succeed. As a teen and when a new bride, Lindy had been in a struggle with what is known as Anorexia Nervosa. She recalls, 'It was when I heard about the death of Karen Carpenter that I realized I had the same problem.' The divorce of her parents at the age of 12 had taken an unsee toll on her. No one really knew that she was struggling with such things, not even her husband. After 2 years of marriage their daughter Kristen was born. On the day she was born Lindy gained the final pound that the doctor insisted she gain. These were not happy times for her. The hidden secrets of Anorexia Nervosa were never really exposed to anyone except a couple of close friends and later her husband. The birth of her child followed by 3 yrs of post partum depression complicated her condition. In 1991, after 20 years of suffering in silence, she finally found healing through prayers of faithful, caring friends. From that point on the battle was no longer raging within her. She was finally free and although the residuals effects of Anorexia still exist, they no longer control her life. Be sure to listen to this compelling 30 minute show and how you may help others who battle with the struggles of Anorexia. Be sure to mark your calendars & join us for a fun & informative show. This new book from Gerry Fewster offers an in-depth developmental perspective on adult-child relationships from pre-conception onwards. In this work, Fewster blends current theory and research with his own extensive professional and personal experience to examine a unique configuration of exciting ideas and possibilities. His basic thesis is that all children have the inherent resources to create purposeful and meaningful lives but this potential can only be unlocked through their experiences with self-conscious adults, particularly during the early years. This is a book for thoughtful parents, professionals and general readers who are prepared to question conventional wisdom. Rich in theory and personal insights, the author draws upon a life-time of working with troubled children and families to make a compelling and urgent case for change. When her child was 3 she noticed the importance of healthy foods and snacks and always asked her 'Do you have a hungry lion in your tummy?' 'Is it time to eat?' Cheryl would then silence the growling lion with a healthy snack or healthy meal with the emphasis on 'healthy'. Now, Cheryl's little girl is 9 and Cheryl is spreading the message of healthy eating for kids with “A Hungry Lion in My Tummy” (Epigraph Books, $14.95), a book for kids ages 2-7. Her book is also available on MannersRock.com In the book, illustrated by Greek artist Nick Dimitriadis, a big but friendly lion serves as the feline manifestation of the rumblings of two children’s ravenous stomachs. The little girl and boy must find wholesome foods to feed him to help him in his daily lion life: honey for quick energy so he can hunt, carrots so he can see what’s sneaking around in the grass. “I have a passion for conveying positive messages to children. It’s not talking at them. It’s talking with them,” says Cheryl, 49, who teaches Sunday school and also etiquette for kids. Be sure to join us for this informative episode.
