So join me on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 @ 9:30 am EST to see how you can connect with new buyers and distributors by strategic participation in an international trade show. 00:31:00Export Successnoexporting, international marketing, trade shows, distributors, exhbitionsThis week on Export Success, we’ll be taking a close look at a critical marketing strategy for companies looking for potential overseas buyers or distributors –Resources/Strategies to handle legal issues in exportinghttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/exportsuccess/2013/11/11/resourcesstrategies-to-handle-legal-issues-in-exportingMarketinghttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/exportsuccess/2013/11/11/resourcesstrategies-to-handle-legal-issues-in-exporting/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/exportsuccess/2013/11/11/resourcesstrategies-to-handle-legal-issues-in-exportingMon, 11 Nov 2013 20:30:00 GMTResources/Strategies to handle legal issues in exporting Welcome to Export Success, a bi-weekly 30 minute online radio blog with one goal: To help you grow your business by succeeding in the global marketplace. Exporting can open up new markets for your company.  Like any business transaction, however, there is always the possibility of some kind of dispute with your customer,  either before, during or after the actual shipment of goods or delivery of services.  Unlike doing business with a U.S.-based buyer however, exporting raises some new issues in the event that you and your customer can’t see eye to eye.  Which country’s laws apply to the dispute?  What are your rights as a seller and what are your buyer’s rights? How can you enforce a contract if your foreign buyer breaches its terms?  If you don’t plan properly, exporting could also raise serious threats to your company’s intellectual property, be it a patent or copyright.  Another potential minefield for new exporters is the whole area of corruption, which is widespread in some markets but illegal under U.S. law. Many countries have a tradition of gift giving in business. When does a well-intentioned gift given to a potential foreign customer become a bribe, which is illegal under U.S. law?  This week on Export Success, I’ll be speaking to Mark Oettinger, an international business lawyer who works with the Export Legal Assistance Network (ELAN), a national group of international trade attorneys.  ELAN’s members offer pro bono consultations to companies considering international trade. Mark will review a range of strategies and resources so new exporters can make contracts with foreign buyers enforceable, protect their intellectual property and stay on the right side of U.S. anti-corruption laws. So join me on Monday, November 11, 2013 @ 3:30 pm EST to see how you anticipate and hopefully avoid some of the legal challenges facing new exporters.00:31:00Export Successnoexporting, intermational marketing, intellectual property, contract enforcement,FCPAWelcome to Export Success, a bi-weekly 30 minute online radio blog with one goal: To help you grow your business by succeeding in the global marketplace. This week on Export Success, I’ll be speaking to Gregory Maguire, Senior Director, Legal and Government Affairs for Revision Military, based in Essex Jct., Vermont.  Revision sells ballistic protective eye gear and helmets to various units of the U.S. military, and to military and security establishments around the world.  Greg will talk about how Revision has promoted its products to prospective foreign government buyers, and what special factors exporters have to take into account as they start planning to enter the foreign government buyer space. So join me on Monday, October 28, 2013 @ 3:30 pm EST to see how your company can tap into this important and growing exporting opportunity. 00:31:00Export Successnoexporting, small business, international marketing, government buyers, procurementDo you have a product or service that you're presently selling to a government entity here in the U.S.?  Selling to government buyers is considered by some toUsing Trade Finance to offer credit to your export customershttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/exportsuccess/2013/10/22/using-trade-finance-to-offer-credit-to-your-overseas-customeMarketinghttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/exportsuccess/2013/10/22/using-trade-finance-to-offer-credit-to-your-overseas-custome/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/exportsuccess/2013/10/22/using-trade-finance-to-offer-credit-to-your-overseas-customeTue, 22 Oct 2013 19:30:00 GMTUsing Trade Finance to offer credit to your export customers Welcome to Export Success, a weekly 30 minute online radio blog with one goal: To help you grow your business by succeeding in the global marketplace. I’m the host of Export Success, Dr. Robert Letovsky How many times have you found yourself in a situation where the difference between making a sale and losing the business came down to offering some kind of credit to your potential buyer?  Did you give the buyer the credit terms they wanted?  Or did you find yourself walking away from the sale because you couldn’t afford the risk that you might not be paid in timely way, or even paid at all?  These kinds of concerns can be multiplied many times over when your buyer is in a foreign market.  You may not know much about the buyer or the buyer’s country, you certainly don’t know what your legal rights are in the country, and the distance factor may make you unwilling to ship the goods without being paid first.  Meanwhile, your foreign buyer – just like buyers here in the U.S. – may be asking or even insisting on some type of credit arrangement to even consider buying your products.  What to do?  That’s where trade finance tools come into play.   This week on Export Success, I’ll be speaking to Joseph W. Mooney, Vice President Global Trade Finance for TD Bank based in Boston MA.  Joe will explain how exporters can move beyond insisting that foreign customers pay up front as a condition of doing business.  Drawing on his 35 years of experience in the field, Joe will outline a range of options that exporters can draw on to build their export sales while reducing the risk of non-payment by foreign buyers.  So join me on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 @ 3:30 pm EST to see how you can level the playing field with your competition by offering trade credit to foreign buyers, while protecting your cash flow and earnings stream.00:31:00Export Successnoexporting, international marketing, small business, trade finance, cash flowWelcome to Export Success, a weekly 30 minute online radio blog with one goal: To help you grow your business by succeeding in the global marketplace.
