HEALTH SOLUTIONS: OBESITY

Obesity is common, serious, costly and global.

Obesity now affects 17% of all children and adolescents in the United States - triple the rate from just one generation ago. Why is this? The fastest growing medical supply product now is machinery and handling aids to handle obese patients.  Beds, lifts, baths, wheelchairs etc., all are getting too small. 

Overweight and obesity are major risk factors for a number of chronic conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular conditions and cancer. Once considered a problem only in high income countries, overweight and obesity are now dramatically on the rise in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in urban settings.

The question is really a simple one: WHAT is making us SO fat?
