This week, we'll start the show with a tribute to director Johns Singleton. Joining me will be Juliana Jai-Bolden, an accomplished developer, editorial/marketing content producer, social media and strategic communications strategist, and reporter.

The Western is historically one of the cornerstones of American moviemaking. This month marks the 50th anniversary of the classic film True Grit, One of my favorites in the genre.  Its star John Wayne is a divisive figure for many folks, but he exemplifies the classic Western hero. This got me thinking about many of my favorite Western movies, why I like them, what they mean, and why the genre continues to inspire filmmakers who try to put their own twist on it.

I’m thinking Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, Once Upon A Time In the West, The Ox-Bow Incident, Unforgiven, The Big Country, Shane, The Magnificent Seven, and many many more. How do these films define our culture, enforce stereotypes, explore American values, and advance the art of visual storytelling? Tune in for some thoughts and feel free to call in!
