This past Monday we received the devastatingly bad news that we lost a legend. Not only a legend of Cleveland and Detroit television, but a legend in the Horror Host world. Ron Sweed came from and was an intricate part of the Ghoulardi family. Showing up at one of Ghoulardi's personal appearances, wearing a gorilla costume that he had fished from the garbage, he made an impression and became part of the crew and part of the Ghoulardi Horror Host lineage. Once Ernie Anderson left Ghoulardi behind to head to Hollywood, Ron went on to appear with Ghoulardi successors, Hoolihan and Big Chuck and then decided to strike out on his own. He asked Ernie's permission to don the lab coat, fright wig and goatee. Ernie gave him his blessing. Not able to use the Ghoulardi name, he simply became known as The Ghoul. At first people saw him as an imitation of Ghoulardi, but he soon emerged from Ghoulardi's shadow and became a character, a personality and a legend all his own. With the help of his friends and those who worked with him, we pay tribute to the one, to the only, to The Ghoul.
