Let’s Talk with Dr. Wendy host Wendy Johnson preaches on the dangers of chemical straighteners, which she knows firsthhand. “I decided to go natural after I noticed about a year ago that my hair was shedding like mad. And I’m upset with myself for not making the transition earlier. I had an episode about 10 years ago where all the hair on my crown fell out. I thought I was sick, so I went to the dermatologist. She showed me a book with pictures of black women who had nearly gone bald because they continued to use a relaxer on a damaged area. In my case, I had to get steroid shots on the top of my head for eight months before my hair grew back.”
