Though known for her ditzy roles, Kim Coles is in fact a cultural pioneer. In 2009, she became the first African American woman to host a prime-time game show (BET’s Pay It Off). And three years later, she upped the stakesby becoming the first African American woman to host two game shows (OWN’s Are You Normal, America?). Happily, Kim didn’t forget the show that launched her career. “I call it the sparkling jewel of my career, she tells Blake Radio host Deardra Shuler of Living Single. “Erika Alexander, who played Max, is one of my best friends to this day. We talk all the time. And I was maid of honor at her wedding—I love to brag about that. I see TC Carson a lot, I see John Henton every once in a while. Kim Fields and Queen Latifah I don’t get to see that often. But when we do see each other, there’s nothing but love.”
