Earthwide Truth Episode # 5 CO-Host Captain Steven M  Brown United States Army Retired   Captain Steven M. Brown, US Army, Ret. Captain Brown is a highly decorated Combat Wounded American Veteran, having received the Bronze Star, the nations 4th highest medal, two purple hearts, two good conduct medals, the Army Commendation Medal, Outstanding Unit with Valor device, and a host of other medals and awards. He served in the US Air Force, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Wounded twice, once in Afghanistan during engagements with Taliban Forces near Kabul, Afghanistan.  Grazed in the head with a bullet during enemy action in October 2001 and again in Iraq, just outside of Basra, Southern Iraq again in October, 2003.  A mortar round landed within ten feet, killing one man and severely injuring then-Staff Sergeant Brown during patrols outside the base fence-line.  The extent of his wounds caused him to be unable to walk for two years. In 2005, Captain Brown attempted to rejoin the US Air Force, but was denied because he was deemed unable to pass physical requirements due to injuries sustained in combat.  He contacted the US Army, who accepted him after several waivers and a full battery physical examination.  He was selected for Officer Candidate School, where he trained for six month, eventually graduating as a Second Lieutenant, and raising to the rank of Captain, holding the position of Battalion Commander, with six companies and over 1200 men and women under his command.  Captain Brown was given an honorable discharge under medical conditions when the US Army deemed him unable to maintain physical requirements due to his combat wounds upon his selection to Major.
