They are highly anxious, fearful, depressed, and codependent. This growing tragedy in our community needs more attention by parents and caregivers. Recognizing the patterns of overprotective caregivers, understanding the intolerance of children's insecurities, learning how to deal with narcissistic and self-loathing behaviors, exploring co-dependence, discussing the meaning of true love, dealing with peer pressure, and finding ways for becoming a love-based parent are effective approaches in managing a healthy household. In both Eastern and Western traditions we have a chance to explore sex, and find its regenerating and healing powers; however, we may also fall into its abusive or devaluing patterns as well. The circulation of sexual energy through the conscious use of breath, touch, sound, and presence is a deep healing process that uses our intentionally directed sexual energy.  Expansion of the healthy life force of sexual energy throughout the body can be directed to release past traumas, repressed emotions or unhealthy belief systems that hold us back from sharing true intimacy in the present with a loved one or with our self. Once our body’s natural life force can consciously expand and release our limiting emotional and muscular armor, we can return to our natural state of liveliness, joy, and wellbeing.  Join Dr. Sadigh and his very special guest Charles Rahi Chun, creator of Somatic Sexual Wholeness, an integration of developmental psychology, somatic bodywork, sexual healing, and meditation, in an eye opening conversation about the healing powers of sex. You will also learn about this powerful healing modality at the Sex & Money seminar in TOTAL BALANCE workshop, which will be conducted at Equinox West LA on June 27-28, 2015. As a successful actor with over 100 episodes of television and film to his credit, Rahi has also focused his attention to creating and producing transformational entertainment content which inspires the heart, touches the soul, and heals the body.  00:46:00Dr Daniel Sadighnosexual healing, sexual energy, intimacy, balance, total balanceSex is a spiritual mystery that is universally challenging to explain.  It has to be personally experienced and consciously appreciated before an understandingSurvival and PTSDhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/drdaniel/2015/02/15/survival-and-ptsdPsychologyhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/drdaniel/2015/02/15/survival-and-ptsd/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/drdaniel/2015/02/15/survival-and-ptsdSun, 15 Feb 2015 17:30:00 GMTSurvival and PTSDPost-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that often develops as the result of experiencing traumatic events, such as sexual assault, warfare, serious injury, or threats of imminent death. How we feel about a situation and what we do with it in action requires paying attention to an internal dialogue. However, we are often confused by the prevalent language in our heads as the "right" one. We take the stronger voice as rational while that may be our inner child's voice of fear, anxiety, depression, anger, loss, jealousy and other signs of disappointment that controls the outcome of our action.   In pursuit of growth, what mostly helps my clients is their understanding of the developmental age/stage that they are stuck in. Since many of their current choices are based on their childlike attitudes, they cannot become successful in any undertaking unless they learn how to rely on an internal adult voice. Carl Jung, Emmet Fox, Charles Whitfield, John Bradshaw and Dr. Hugh Missildine have all used the concept of the "inner child" as the sum of all the mental, emotional, and sensational memories or beliefs that are stored in the brain. In this program I will be discussing the importance of having a clear outlook on "the child that lives inside you" and how it prevents your potential growth. What is bullying and why do bullies bully? Aggressive or dominating behavior is often displayed by teenagers and can continue over a lifetime in abusive relationships. Such a primitive psychological defense mechanism finds roots in an attempt to control disturbing feelings. Many times a bully is seeking power, especially if they did not receive a sense of security or empowerment at home. When parents or caregivers attempt control children by creating fear or shame, perhaps the smaller, more scared children or those with deeper emotional insecurities become victims, while others will hide behind their discomforts by showing abusing behaviors and exploiting other kids’ insecurities. Rarely do we have a chance to get a glimpse into the mind set of a different culture through the eyes of a complete outsider. The Iran Job provides such a glimpse. By being sensitive to the importance of personal relationships, American basketball player Kevin Sheppard gets a first-hand look at life in contemporary Iran. Through his teammates and friends in Iran, Kevin understands their values, dreams, difficulties, aspirations, and - among other things - how women in Iran cope with the cultural restrictions imposed on them. Kevin shows how respecting cultural differences can pave the road to acceptance and cooperation when for three years he lives in a country that is often perceived as anti-American. Dr. Sadigh's interview with Kevin Sheppard and Till Schauder, a graduate of the University of Television and Film in Munich and the Director/Producer/Cinematographer/Co-Editor of The Iran Job, reveals how this documentary can capture the psychological, social, and political pulse of a culture and bring crucial awareness to millions of outsiders. 00:36:00Dr Daniel SadighnoWomen rights, cultural difficulties, acceptance, relational difficulties,non-judgemental awarenessToday, more than any other time in the history of humanity, we are exposed to different cultures and belief systems. Have you ever stereotyped others just because you intended to reduce the overload of information and simplify your understanding of a group of people? There is a certain chance that regardless of your racial, sexual or religious identity, you have sub-divided people according to their language, behavior, customs, and ideologies. There is even a higher chance that you have been categorized by those who think of themselves as the “right” type of people based on their own cultural understandings. Our society is filled with stories of racism and our communities are segregated by discrimination. Although there is considerable evidence that stereotypes can have considerable truth and stereotyping is seen as a strategy of successive approximations towards valuable generalizations in an environment of restricted information, both ethnocentrism and stereotyping can lead to racism. Race and racism continue to be major factors in the politics of many nations; therefore we need to understand such elements of political psychology. Dr. Sadigh and his guest, Dr. Jerome Rabow, will examine the theories that predict people who place a high value on their own group will tend to scorn outsiders and seriously damage the healthy relationships of being inclusive and non-judgmental.    Dr. Jerome Rabow received his Ph.D in Social Psychology from the University of Michigan and started teaching at UCLA in 1965 where he is a Professor Emeritus. Great brands keep personal reputations and rely on relationships.  Where we find that congruence, we also find power.  Think about Apple, today the #1 brand in the world. Congruence is the internal and external consistency that is perceived by others as sincerity or certainty.  This coming together means that the values, attributes and personality of the brand are understood, seamlessly practiced by the business and experienced by the end user. Just as in biological science and psychotherapy – when the system is integrated, it begins to work optimally.    Join Dr. Sadigh and Catherine Mullally as they discuss the role of congruence in building a meaningful brand and profitable business.  Whether starting a new business, growing one or looking to discover personal strengths, clarifying essential values is the first question. Our behaviors, understandings, defenses, traits, attitudes, and solutions are all affected by small or big traumas and require healing of the energy fields that are holding them. The power of cognitive healing may not be sufficient enough to work through all traumas, but there are other vibrational forces that move extremely fast and permeate through all layers of body and mind. When a psychological affliction hurts a person, the impact of the emotional pain goes beyond mental properties, into anatomy and physiology, restructuring the energy fields that emanate from our Chakras. A chronic emotional pain eventually results in a cumulative injury on the cellular level, which can be addressed and resolved by integrating the mind with the healing force of our own vibrational energy. To create a lasting change in body and mind, we need to communicate all transformations into every cell of the body. A wide array of therapeutic interventions can help us live a fuller and happier life and "Writing as Healing" is one effective approach. Our ancestors did not have the therapeutic advantages that we have today, so we have the opportunity of doing the work they could not do.   Reading poems about survival, addictions, transitions, hope, abandonment, loss and ultimately strength, can quickly get to the core of how people are experiencing their personal issues. It offers opportunities for insight, connection, creativity and catharsis as well as fun. Hypnosis enables people to perceive things differently as it brings more awareness to blockages, limitations and reasons for behavior.  As your body relaxes, your thoughts become more focused allowing information that has always been in the subconscious mind to be reachable in a new way.  In a hypnotic state, you feel physically at ease, yet mentally you are fully aware. Any person of normal intelligence can be hypnotized for therapeutic purposes and can benefit from the identification of limiting beliefs and perspectives. Hypnotherapy is often linked with creating behavioral changes such as stop smoking or weight loss as well as overcoming phobias such as fear of flying. It is also used for issues like anxiety, depression, cancer, eating disorders, chronic pain, relationship challenges, sexual dysfunction, substance abuse and low self-esteem. With every breath, we take in life and avoid death; we allow oxygen in and let out carbon dioxide to survive. The joyful inhale and the relieving exhale represent a continuous transformation of energy which without it we are lifeless; yet, most of us take our breathing for granted. We often forget the direct relationship between correct breathing and living a healthy life. Our physical need for oxygen also triggers our emotional and mental needs for survival and safety. In order to stay in a state of relaxation and comfort we are required to self-regulate and maintain an appropriate physiological rhythm. Breathing is the most basic element in self-regulation but since we take it as granted, it has become the least taught movement in our physical education. This term worked its way into everyday language from Freudian psychoanalytical theory and we commonly refer to different kinds of it to describe feeling states. Think of the last time you referred to someone as being "in denial", accused someone of "rationalizing", or asking someone not to “project” their stuff on you.  Some of these states are often confused with coping strategies which are generally the adaptive or constructive solutions for dealing with stress and anxiety. Often, the simple process of drawing and artistic interpretations can reveal the defense mechanism and, help organize, process and heal traumas. By using images and symbols, the client is often able to tap into deeper and often hidden material that has been disguised through behavioral or verbal defenses. Images mirror developmental and cognitive development. Join Dr. Sadigh and her colleague Mrs. Parisa Amirmostofian to find out how dreams, thoughts and communication begin with images. The existing psycho-neuro-immunology research shows something different. Science has demonstrated that stress and anxiety cause physical harm to the gastrointestinal tracts of the patients. In relation to Irritable Bowl Syndrome, neither a majority of practitioners nor their patients understand how such negative emotions routinely damage the physical body.  Often times, we control IBS symptoms with medication and without treating the underlying cause.  Negative emotions and stress cause irritation or inflammation inside the intestines that make it literally fall apart. This "leaky gut" and inflammation lead to significant dysfunction, which then lead to a perpetual cycle of disease and pain. In 2004 The National Cancer Society estimated 11.1 million Americans with a history of cancer and that number is expected to reach 20 million by 2030. It is almost always impossible to prove exactly what causes a cancer in any individual, because most cancers have multiple possible causes. With less than 25% of the world’s cancer population genetically predisposed to it, approximately 80% of cancer cases are caused by environmental factors. The Common environmental factors leading to cancer include tobacco use, poor diet and obesity, infection, radiation, lack of physical activity, and environmental pollutants. World Health Organization (WHO) believes that 30% of the world’s cancer cases could be avoided. After denial, being angry, much soul searching and feeling depressed we need to find forgiveness, acceptance, and surrender. Join Dr. Sadigh and his special guest, Mary Elizabeth Yoder founder of TheACY Foundation, to allow more acceptances in your life. Find the keys for opening the pathway to freedom and healing. Let bitterness, pain, and anger move out of your life. About My Guest: Mary Elizabeth Yoder lost her father in a car accident at age eleven. It took her 28 hard years to learn about forgiveness, before facing the drunk driver who had killed her father. We grow up, go to school, make a living, and engage in relationships “under stress”; but who is supposed to teach us to unload our pressures? When do we learn about lifting stress? Join Dr. Sadigh and his special guest, Felicia Marie Tomasko RN and LA Yoga Magazine Editor in Chief, to find out about your choices. Self-blame and despair exist when you do not know how to build happiness into your life. The foundation of a happy mind relies on self-confidence; but, what about life’s distressing events? How can you stay on a positive course when life is throwing curve-balls at you? When can you act assertively rather than reacting adversely? Join me and my guests Mr. Kamran Khavarani and Mrs. Parisa Amirmostofian on A Moment with Self. Find out what a “poor me” attitude is and why “self-pity” exaggerates pain and suffering in A Sorry Self. Learn how self-worth and self-esteem can be increased by engaging in arts and discuss changing from a victim to a joyful person.   About my guests: Mr. Kamran Khavarani is an innovative artist responsible for a new movement that is bound to breathe new life and passion into the art world: Abstract Romanticism. By combining unique movements of color with a play on emotions, Khavarani creates a rare fusion of Romanticism in an abstract form. He emphasizes the personal, emotional and dramatic through the use of exotic, literary or historical subject matter. Mr. Khavarani is also an architect and a philosopher who received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2011. Mrs. Parisa Amirmostofian is an art therapist who has experienced life through many different lenses. Over thirty years of artistic training; several years of being a mid-wife, working with hospital settings in two continents; research in abnormalities of sperms; investigating hormonal correlations in breast cancer; and working as a life-coach/art therapist are just a few of her achievements.
