Capt. William E. Simpson II authored The Nautical Prepper, just in time for the National Preparedness Month. Capt. Bill is a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer with decades of boating and expedition sailing experience, who has successfully survived long-term off-the-grid living at remote uninhabited desert islands with his family, using sailboats that he equipped for that purpose.
Capt. Bill holds a U.S.C.G. 500-ton captain’s license for commercial inspected passenger vessels, including power, sail, and assistance towing vessels. He is also a certified PADI DiveMaster with has made hundreds of dives, both day and night.
Many people know Capt. Simpson from the hit National Geographic TV show ‘Doomsday Preppers‘, which featured him in a March 2013 episode titled ‘A Fortress At Sea’. At the season’s conclusion, Capt. Simpson was named National Geographic’s ’Best Prepper’ and was awarded the highest score in the history of that TV series
