Listen in to hear how Zack is offering mothers a unique perspective to support her effort to not just raise her son, but raise a son that experiences unparalleled success in his personal and professional life. He talks to mothers about subjects ranging from how to establish healthy relationships with their sons, to activating a plan for future success.  01:32:00DoctorKatnoZacharyHawkins,StatisticsToSuccess,SingleMothers,Culture,MothersandSonsThis week, we will interview Zachary Hawkins, the author of the soon-to-be released book, "Statistics to Success: 4 Priorities Single Mothers Can Champion to RaRathana and RJ Sin, Youth Community Leaders from the Cambodian Community Development, Inc.http://www.blogtalkradio.com/doctorkat/2011/03/14/rathana-and-rj-sin-youth-community-leaders-from-the-cambodian-community-development-incCulturehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/doctorkat/2011/03/14/rathana-and-rj-sin-youth-community-leaders-from-the-cambodian-community-development-inc/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/doctorkat/2011/03/14/rathana-and-rj-sin-youth-community-leaders-from-the-cambodian-community-development-incMon, 14 Mar 2011 00:00:00 GMTRathana and RJ Sin, Youth Community Leaders from the Cambodian Community Development, Inc.On this week's show, I will be speaking with Rathana and RJ Sin, who are representatives of the Youth Cambodian Community Leaders program (YCCL). Lambright, M.Ed.Bridget K. Lambright, M.Ed. is a two-time author and educator living in South Euclid, Ohio. With a master's degree in administration from Cleveland State University, Bridget has over 10 years experience in teaching, education administration, and curriculum development, and she is an English Department chairperson. Bridget has become a powerful advocate for children and parents. Having been motivated by her own experience as a single parent of two children, she has written two books providing powerful and practical tools for addressing the sometimes-unspoken, although very obvious challenges single-parents face while trying to raise children into becoming confident, happy, productive citizens of the world. What makes her perspective so powerful and widely applicable is that she is not just concerned with the well-being of those beautiful little people living in her own home. As she expresses in her latest book, "Save Me Mama," Bridget has been deeply touched by the heartbreak she has witnessed in the souls of those who grace her classrooms. Listen in to hear the passion and authentic voice of this beautiful, courageous woman who is lovingly and brilliantly touching the lives of our children. When you listen to her, you will find it no surprise that Bridget has recently been nominated for a "Teacher of the Year" award in Washington, D.C. this year. Oh yeah, and she happens to be my cousin!01:50:00DoctorKatnoBridgetKLambright,Education,SaveMeMama,NoNosforMommyandDaddy,ParenthoodBridget K. This is an especially exciting interview for me, because Javier is not only an exquisite practitioner of original methods of black-and-white photography, he also happens to be the producer of this show, as well as a very good friend. Javier is appearing on this week’s show in advance of his photo exhibition that will take place starting next Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Cricket Engine Gallery in Oakland, California and which will run for the entire month of February. His show is called Angel Javier Machado Leyva: 10 Years of Self-Portraits. I have seen some of these photos and when you witness his transformation over the years, you will be amazed that it is the same person. Just as importantly, though, are the stories that accompany each self-portrait – they reflect the photographer’s personal and socio-political journey over the decade. In this interview, we will talk to Javier about this journey. The discussion will include Javier’s training by some of the most skilled and accomplished black-and-white photographers, and I will also ask him about his description of “The Black Box,” a theory he has developed over the years that speaks to his conceptualization of how and where people keep their most profound and sensitive beliefs about themselves and the world around them. You are sure to find this interview intriguing, so listen in, and as always, feel free to call-in as well.01:22:00DoctorKatnoCuba,AngelJavierMachadoLeyva,Photography,Self-Portraits,BlackandWhitePhotosThis week’s guest will be Bay Area Cuban Photographer, Angel Javier Machado Leyva. On the show, we will discuss how the SFCLT works to preserve San Francisco's diminishing affordable housing stock by acquiring and converting rental buildings into permanently affordable, shared-equity housing cooperatives. Through the actions of the Community Land Trust, the current residents become owners of the building and SFCLT owns the land. This results in an alternative form of homeownership, and in this way homeownership affordability is preserved. How? By separating the cost of the building from the land, the SFCLT maintains the affordability requirements in perpetuity, or in layman’s terms, forever and ever. This show promises to be fascinating, educational and inspirational, so tune in!01:08:00DoctorKatnoSFCLT,Home ownership,Fred Lambright,Affordable home,HousingMy guest is Fred Lambright, who is the Organizational Director of the San Francisco Community Land Trust (SFCLT).
