ABOUT THE AUTHOR
G. Elizabeth Kretchmer grew up on the south side of Chicago, the youngest of three children in a family that revered the annual summer vacation. They traveled east to frolic in the waves of the Atlantic, north to ride untamed horses in the Canadian Rockies, and south to barter for trinkets in the border towns of Mexico. But her favorite trips were always to the Great American West, where raptors soared and mountains loomed and evergreens towered overhead, and where history and adventure and spirituality seemed somehow inextricably and inexplicably linked to the landscape. By the time she was in her mid-twenties, she found a permanent ticket to the West and has lived there ever since.
ABOUT THE BOOK
“To call Bear Medicine a novel about any singular objective would be to understate its importance as a multi-faceted story that embraces several different issues. Readers seeking a strong, woman-centered story that gives much food for thought about these challenges will find Bear Medicine an absorbing, purposeful read where the power of the bear results in rebirth and revelations.” ~ Diane Donovan, Midwest Book Reviews
“Bear Medicine shares what happens when people are unthinking, unkind, and use power as a means to control the lives of others and the healing that can arrive when we support one another. Kretchmer writes ‘from where the sun now rises we will fight forever.’ It is a rallying cry for those believing in humane co-existence with all life on this planet. I welcome this teaching.” ~ Deb Lecos, Windy City Review
